Still, JJK's ending doesn't change the fact that this was a story that fans enjoyed to the utmost best over the course of the last 6 or so years, with some chapters keeping them on the edge of their seats and others simply blowing them away. All the intense action in JJK finally concluded with chapter 271, and now, the story of these magnificent sorcerers has finally come to an end.

A New Curse User Was Revealed At The End

  • Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara Fought A New Curse User
  • Yuji Takes On Gojo's Dream

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 270 introduced a new curse user to the fans. This was another interesting addition by the author, but it was also a calculated one. At first, fans were utterly confused as to why the author was introducing a new enemy simply one chapter before the conclusion of the story. However, later down the line, it was finally clear to the fans as to why that was the case. In JJK chapter 271, this curse user was revealed to be a rather timid individual who seemed to be upset over a woman not returning his love. Because of that, he used his newfound powers to cause issues in her life.

I'm expecting great things from you once you join us! – Yuji Itadori

This bitter man was, naturally, taken in for his behavior. It was quite weird for the fans to see this individual being defeated so easily. However, then, fans got to see a flashback of Gojo, where he entrusted everything to Yuji Itadori and showed him how to raise the next generation right. Now, Yuji used this moment to pass on a similar message to this individual, letting him know that he is expecting great things from him in the future after he mends his ways. This was quite an exciting touch by the author, and just meant to show that Yuji was now much more mature than he was at the beginning of the series, and that even if the world is a much safer place right now, Yuji would need a powerful bunch around him to fight monsters that cross his path.

Gojo's Dream Passed On To Yuji Itadori

Gojo Is Dead, But His Dream Lives On

Of course, one absolutely cannot speak of JJK's ending without taking into consideration the character of Gojo Satoru. Gojo is the face of JJK, and despite not being the main character, is quite easily the most popular one. Gojo died in his battle against Sukuna in JJK chapter 236. This was an absolutely magnificent battle that he fought to the best of his abilities. Unfortunately, all that was not enough because Sukuna had powers of not just his own cursed technique but that of Megumi as well. These two cursed techniques essentially combined to give him the edge over the strongest modern sorcerer and essentially killed him.

Gojo is officially confirmed to be dead, but it is incredibly strange for the author to not have acknowledged his death more in the story. In fact, every character in JJK has had their lives influenced by Gojo in one way or another, and it is safe to say that he's at the center of everything. For the last few chapters to not even mention Gojo properly was certainly a failure on the part of the author.

One of you should forget about me and attain a strength that is different from mine. – Gojo

For what it's worth, in the last chapter of JJK, fans did get to see Gojo Satoru once again. In a flashback with Yuji, where these two were training together. Gojo felt that he had absolutely nothing to fear, because he knew that the generation that was coming up after him was capable and would go on to reach a similar level to him, or even surpass him. While Yuji felt this behavior from Gojo was weird, for Gojo, this was utter confidence.

Gojo knew that even if he lost the battle against Sukuna, the future of the world was in safe hands. He then went on to tell Yuji that he expected great things from him in the future and essentially, Gojo's dream became Yuji's dream.

Gojo wanted the Jujutsu order to change, and fans saw that happen in real time over the course of the last few chapters, especially when the higher-ups were essentially all eradicated, and at the same time, those trying to control Jujutsu hierarchy monopolizing the simple domain were as well. Now, Gojo's dream is essentially close to being realized, but at the same time, fans can also come to the conclusion that it certainly was not the best ending for him.

Ryomen Sukuna's Legend Finally Dies

Sukuna Finally Gets The Meaning Of Love

Of course, then, one also has to discuss the character of Ryomen Sukuna. Sukuna was dealt with well in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. He went against a multitude of sorcerers and held his own incredibly well. Sukuna was certainly a force to be reckoned with in this battle, and it is safe to say that the performance that he delivered was certainly one worthy of the title that he holds. In the end, Sukuna was defeated by Yuji, and essentially, what was left behind was a singular finger that should not have enough cursed energy in it to even manifest him. Essentially, this finger was now harmless and simply served as a talisman.

Sukuna was also seen in the afterlife, where he looked back upon his life and finally acknowledged that he was the way he was because he was an unloved person. In the end, Sukuna concluded that if there was to be another chance for him, perhaps he would take a different route, this time, one filled with love.

Meanwhile, the other characters in JJK, such as Megumi and Nobara, continued working alongside Yuji Itadori. These are the faces of Jujutsu High right now, and they continue to fight against cursed spirits, and at the same time, bring peace to the world. Other characters, such as Yuta, Maki, Toge, and Hakari, among others, continue their daily lives, as if nothing happened, and that essentially served as the ending for JJK.

Sukuna's finger served as the last panel of the series, and this was essentially symbolic. Clearly, JJK's ending was not as good as fans wanted it to be, but it certainly was not the worst one out there either. For now, no sequel or spin-off for JJK has been announced, but that could potentially change in the future, depending on what the author wants to do for his next project.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
