Yuji Itadori is the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen and certainly an individual who aspires to help all those around him by becoming a great sorcerer. Yuji has, over the years, reached incredible levels of strength, however, his path to where he is today wasn't easy.

He had to undergo various ordeals and even lose numerous battles to be able to learn from them and grow in terms of strength. In fact, Yuji has lost multiple fights throughout the run of Jujutsu Kaisen, and some defeats have been more emphatic for him than others.

5 Finger Bearer

Yuji Lost Terribly To A Finger Bearer And Was Saved By Sukuna

Finger_Bearer

One of the very first fights that Yuji lost in Jujutsu Kaisen came against a finger bearer. This finger bearer was able to absolutely overwhelm Yuji in the face of battle. In fact, Yuji would most certainly have died in this fight had it not been for Sukuna.

Eventually, it was Sukuna who took over Yuji and defeated the finger bearer, however, Yuji himself would most certainly have faced imminent death here and lost the battle horribly. The difference in strength between the two was absolutely astonishing. This gave Yuji a reality check as to what level of strength he had to reach in order to help people efficiently and, eventually, take down Sukuna as well.

4 Mahito

Yuji Lost To Mahito On Multiple Occasions

Mahito is yet another individual that Yuji lost a battle to. Although Yuji was technically never fully defeated by Mahito, his many fights against him were not looking too good for him until help arrived. In his first proper fight against Mahito, Yuji was eventually beaten down and could essentially have died had it not been for Nanami.

In this fight, one could argue that Yuji had already lost the one-on-one against him, and the battle turned into a two-on-one from there onwards, which ended with Mahito retreating. In Shibuya, something similar happened. Yuji would most certainly have died against Mahito, had it not been for Aoi Todo. Without him, Yuji's death would have been imminent and it would have been a major loss for him.

3 Uraume

Yuji Was Unable To Harm The Ancient Sorcerer

Uraume Cursed Technique

Uraume is a very powerful individual in the world of JJK and Yuji Itadori has fought against them in Shibuya. Towards the end of the Shibuya Incident, after the defeat of Mahito, Yuji was up against Kenjaku, and he certainly tried his best to take him down right there and then.

However, Urusme intervened and was way too great for the sorcerers to contend with. Clearly, despite Yuji's effort, he would most definitely have died there. Yuji and all the others were beaten by the duo of Kenjaku and Uraume, and in fact, Uraume alone could essentially have ended all of them, as acknowledged by Yuji himself. Had it not been for Yuki, who arrived right in the nick of time, countless deaths would have taken place right there and then, and Yuji would most definitely have lost more than just a battle.

2 Choso

Yuji Received A Beatdown From Choso

Yuji's fight against Choso remains to be one of the most iconic battles that fans witnessed in Jujutsu Kaisen. This fight took place in the Shibuya Incident Arc, and there, Yuji was completely outclassed by this monstrously powerful individual. It was clear for Yuji to see that he was absolutely no match for Choso in battle.

Using the power of Blood Manipulation, Choso was able to absolutely demolish Yuji and overwhelm him in nearly every aspect of battle. This has been one of Yuji's worst defeats in Jujutsu Kaisen, and if Choso wanted to, he could have killed Yuji right there and then. It was only because of the vision he got that he stopped his pursuit of Yuji's life.

1 Yuta Okkotsu

Yuji Was Killed By Yuta

Yuta Okkotsu fought Yuji after the events of the Shibuya Incident Arc, and this was because he was chosen as the Executioner for him. Yuta didn't even use his full strength in the fight against Yuji, however, despite that, he was able to completely overwhelm him in combat. Yuta actually succeeded in killing Yuji, stabbing him right through the chest.

However, he also saved his life later down the line. Using Reverse Cursed Technique, Yuta brought him back to life, and this was because he had a Binding Vow that ensured that he had to kill Yuji. This is yet another fight that Yuji ended up losing in Jujutsu Kaisen, and it was certainly a beatdown too difficult for him to take. That said, Yuji is only as strong as he is right now because of all the defeats that he has faced in the story over the years, and that just goes to show his incredible character.
