- Jujutsu Kaisen manga, available on Manga Plus, remains popular despite flaws.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular series, showcasing interesting stories and amazing fights. The final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen had fans glued to their seats with how intense it was, but one complaint that fans have always had is about Megumi’s character, which fell short, despite being one of the main characters. Jujutsu Kaisen fans are still not happy with how his character turned out.

Gege, the creator of JJK, reveals his original plans for one of the main villains of the series, Kenjaku.
Megumi Started Bright But Ending Up Disappointing Fans
Megumi was Cut Out From A Good Portion of the Story
Megumi is one of the main characters of Jujutsu Kaisen, alongside Yuji, Nobara, and Gojo. Out of these characters, Megumi and Nobara are definitely the biggest letdowns in the story, while Gojo and Yuji had their moments to shine.
It’s definitely been difficult for Megumi fans to accept that the story has concluded and Megumi achieved almost nothing. Fans have been pointing out how hyped up Megumi was at times, only to never achieve anything. For example, many believed Megumi was one character who, at least, had the potential to rival Gojo. In fact, the author himself implied this. This isn't fetched to believe as he has the Ten Shadows Technique, which would allow him to summon Mahoraga - the only way to counter Gojo’s Limitless that Sukuna had to make use of to kill him.
"I Never Intended To Live A Normal Life. The World Is Full Of People Besides Myself. Once More... I Think I'll Live For Others." — Megumi Fushiguro
If Megumi learned to control Mahoraga, he would've been almost unstoppable and become one of the strongest sorcerers in the Jujutsu Kaisen story. However, that never happened, and he never even got his complete domain expansion. Instead, his body was just taken over by Sukuna in the Culling Game arc, where he was stuck until the last moments of the fight.
Due to all of this, and the fact his story feels rushed and unfinished, many fans have been disappointed. Megumi is widely known as ‘Potential Man’, simply because he has immense potential, but the author never does anything with it. Fans can only hope for some kind of sequel for the story where the remaining three main characters get more development, but the odds for that are close to none.
Megumi Was Initially Supposed to be Jujutsu Kaisen’s Main Character
This Makes His Development Even More Disappointing
Megumi’s role in the story was initially supposed to be a lot bigger than it currently is. Indeed, in Jujutsu Kaisen’s prototype, it’s revealed that the main character wasn’t supposed to be Yuji, but Megumi. In that prototype, Megumi was the initial vessel of Sukuna, and if Gege had stuck with this, Megumi’s role in the story would have been a lot greater.

Gege had some interesting plans for Sukuna originally, and it didn't involve Yuji in JJK.
Despite all of this, however, Megumi remains to be one of the most popular characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, by far, and that’s after a good absence from the manga.
