Jujutsu Kaisen: The Fate Of Yuji Itadori In The JJK Modulo Sequel, Explained

Jujutsu Kaisen’s main story ended last year, but now, Gege Akutami is back with a big project—a new manga, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, covering future events with new protagonists. This means that Yuji, Jujutsu Kaisen’s original protagonist, won’t be the central focus of JJK Modulo. This, however, doesn’t mean Yuji will not be involved.

Yuji became the strongest sorcerer in JJK after the Sukuna battle in Shinjuku, and regardless of how far the story of Modulo happens in the future, he could still be alive, unlike most other beloved Jujutsu Kaisen characters.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has just started, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 1 has been officially released, and it was quite an insane read with its 54-page chapter. Gege introduced new characters, along with previously introduced characters, such as Yuta’s grandchildren, Yuka and Tsurugi. With all that, fans even got a short look at Yuji and Gojo, but of course, not in the current timeline. Yuji and Gojo were described to be Japan’s strongest sorcerers. Gege putting Gojo and Yuji on the same pedestal was definitely interesting and just shows how much Yuji grew during the Sukuna battle, and possibly after.

Yuji Could Still be Alive in JJK Modulo

• Yuji is No Normal Human
• Yuji Will Help the New Protagonists

With some new troubles brewing in the Jujutsu Kaisen world, fans are wondering if any old characters will show up to help and support the new protagonists. By this point, most characters are either very old or dead, but Yuji could still make a comeback and play a huge role in JJK Modulo.

“This became the spark that gave rise to ‘Mojuro,’ which originally didn’t even have a single concrete idea, and after numerous planning meetings, it finally came to life. This will be a short-term serialization, about half a year, collected in roughly 3 volumes.” — Gege Akutami

The reason why this is possible has to do with Yuji not being a normal human. Yuji was Sukuna’s vessel for quite some time, and aside from that, he was also birthed by Kenjaku, making him special. Yuji could age slower than a normal human, or perhaps just has more vitality, making his return a possibility. Yuji could become a mentor for the new generation and lead them on their tough battles. After all, the aliens might be an even bigger threat than Sukuna ever was.

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024 but can be read online for free. It is available on Manga Plus, where this series used to be serialized weekly. For fans who want to check out the new JJK sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the series can also be read on Manga Plus where it will drop weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 1 will release on September 7, 2025.
