Gege Akutami is known for his battle-shonen manga, Jujutsu Kaisen. The series has become universally loved in the span of just a few years. In fact, the JJK manga has already sold more than 100 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga of all time.
Gege Akutami's quality with a pen is undeniable, and with time, it has become clear that there aren't many who can match him in terms of writing. Given his accomplishments, it won't be an exaggeration to call Gege Akutami a legend of the manga industry.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Officially Kills Off His Main Character
JJK's sequel marked the beginning of a new era for the series. The death of Gege's main character is now official.
Gege Akutami Wants Fans To Read A Jujutsu Kaisen-Esque Manga
Nakaya Onsen Writes His Own Manga
- Gege Akutami is a renowned mangaka
- Phenomenon X: Paranormal Crime Files is akin to JJK
So when Gege Akutami recommends something, it means that it's worth checking. Recently, the JJK author went on record and recommended Phenomenon X: Paranormal Crime Files. The manga has been written by Nakaya Onsen, an animator who has worked on titles like Jujutsu Kaisen, Fate Grand Order/Samurai Remnant, and Azur Lane.
One may wonder why Gege Akutami is recommending the manga, but there are actually two important factors. Firstly, it is a supernatural mystery. Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen also has a supernatural theme, so it's understandable why he would recommend it. Another reason is that Nakaya Onsen has worked on the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, so Gege Akutami would want to help him out. Lastly, it is possible that the author of JJK genuinely enjoyed Phenomenon X: Paranormal Crime Files, and he wants fans to experience it as well.
Fans who are interested in reading Nakaya Onsen's manga will be delighted to know that the story follows a cat-eared police detective named Anan and her partner, Kanai, who look into paranormal incidents. The two are often dragged into cases that put their abilities to the test.
Gege Akutami's JJK Modulo Is Excellent
Gege Akutami is also working on a manga of his own, which is the sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen. It is called JJK: Modulo, and it is set several years after the events of the original manga. It was surprising to see Gege Akutami return to the fray so soon after finishing JJK, but it's likely that Shueisha wanted him back. Jujutsu Kaisen left a massive hole in the lineup that newer manga titles couldn't fill. So, Shueisha must have pressured him to return.
The silver lining is that Gege Akutami is only writing the story, as Yuji Iwasaki is doing the artwork for Modulo. Drawing takes a lot of effort, so Gege Akutami won't have to overwork himself. JJK Modulo is rumored to be a limited series, so Gege Akutami won't have to work for long, and afterward he can focus on his health.
Phenomenon X: Paranormal Crime Files is officially licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment.
