Jujutsu Kaisen’s last arc, Shinjuku Showdown, concluded in late 2024, and fans haven't had much to look forward to since then. While the series ended with the victory of the protagonists over the King of Curses, fans weren't too fond of it, largely because the ending felt very rushed for various reasons.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Reveals The Biggest Concept He Took From Kishimoto's Naruto
Jujutsu Kaisen's story was inspired by other popular mangas. Gege reveals how Naruto impacted his story.
Still, Jujutsu Kaisen will continue to live in the hearts of the fans for a very long time, and much of that is down to its iconic characters. The likes of Gojo, Sukuna, Yuji, and many others were always beloved by the fans, and in the final arc, when these characters went all out the interest in the story piqued as well. Of course, fans knew that Sukuna was the strongest in the history of JJK, but as the story progressed two characters who were his equals in different ways were revealed to the fans.
Sukuna's Immense Powers In Jujutsu Kaisen
- The King of Curses Was Unstoppable
- Sukuna Was Defeated By Yuji
The King of Curses was originally born in the Heian era but thanks to Kenjaku, was reincarnated during the modern era of the JJK world. Fans saw a proper glimpse of Sukuna's full power towards the end of the story, and it was truly fascinating to see. Sukuna was strong enough to take on just about every sorcerer and emerge from the battle as the winner. His cursed technique, Shrine, made him utterly unstoppable, but that wasn't all.
I eat what I want. Everything is for my enjoyment — Ryomen Sukuna
Sukuna also has access to other amazing powers, such as his Reverse Cursed Technique, and above all, his incredible wits. Sukuna’s Domain Expansion gave him immense destructive power and the way he utilized Binding Vows to increase his powers was certainly phenomenal to see. Even though Sukuna lost the Shinjuku Showdown, it goes without saying that it was only because it was a group effort. As a solo fighter, hardly anyone can rival Ryomen Sukuna, but some certainly can.
Gojo Was Sukuna's First Equal In Battle
Gojo Could've Beaten Sukuna
When it comes to Sukuna's first equal, fans know that it was none other than Gojo Satoru. Gojo was an incredibly powerful fighter, known to be the strongest of the modern era. He had the power of the Limitless and the Six Eyes and that certainly made him very powerful. That's certainly not all. Gojo Satoru was also a master of Reverse Cursed Technique, and his control over various barrier techniques, as well as general battle wits were incredibly high. It was down to all these factors that Gojo was able to match Sukuna in Shinjuku and even overwhelm him despite being in a handicap battle right from the get-go.

Farewell, Gojo Satoru! I shall never forget you for as long as I live! — Sukuna
Yuji Itadori Possesses Latent Potential Equal To Sukuna
Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of the series, was equal to Sukuna in a rather different way. While Gojo was a true equal to Sukuna, Yuji was nowhere close in strength. However, it was made clear in the story that Yuji had the potential equal to Sukuna. Uraume clearly stated that inside Yuji Itadori was the latent potential same as Ryomen Sukuna himself, and that is what makes him an equal, although in a rather different sense. Yuji eventually beat Sukuna, but he wasn't as strong as him, although it matters little, as it is essentially a guarantee that when Yuji fulfills his potential, he will be Sukuna's equal.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
