This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen's last arc.
Summary
- Takaba's technique has limitless potential.
- Takaba is not the strongest due to his own lack of refinement.
- Megumi Fushiguro tops list of characters with wasted potential.
Jujutsu Kaisen concluded last year, and the series certainly met quite a divisive end, which was expected to an extent, especially after JJK chapter 236. Still, fans accepted the ending of the story for what it was and that's important, because, at the end of the day, Jujutsu Kaisen gave fans a ton of enjoyment over the years, with some of the most mind-blowing battles.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Reveals The Inspiration For The End Of Gojo Vs Sukuna Fight
The inspiration for the ending of Sukuna vs Gojo in JJK was revealed by Gege. The answer might surprise fans.
Recently, Jujutsu Kaisen even held an exhibition, where the author of the series answered some very interesting questions from Shinjuku Showdown, although only up to Volume 27. In it, he also went on to confirm a character with quite possibly the biggest wasted potential in the entire series.
Gege Confirms Takaba To Be The Most Broken Character
- Takaba’s Technique Has No Limits
- The Only Reason Why He Isn't Unbeatable Is Because Of Himself
When it comes to cursed techniques in Jujutsu Kaisen, fans know that some stand out far more than others. Often, it's about refining and honing your strength, but sometimes, it's simply about the technique you end up getting. In Takaba's case, he received the most broken technique in all of Jujutsu Kaisen, Comedian. Of course, Gojo's Limitless is strong, as is Sukuna's Shrine, but they don't even come close to what Takaba can achieve with his technique.
I never want this to end. — Takaba doing comedy
So, why is Takaba not the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen? For two reasons mainly. The first is that he doesn't know the scope of his own power, which restricts him greatly, and the second is that he simply doesn't care about refining his strength. All he cares about is comedy. Here's what Gege had to say about Takaba:
Q: How broken is Comedian (超人, lit. Superhuman), couldn’t he save progress and then restart like a game?
A: It's not as broken as that since Takaba is the one using it.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Reveals The Biggest Weakness Of Gojo Satoru
Gege Akutami sheds light on Gojo's ultimate weakness in JJK. This reveal might shock many fans.
In other words, Gege is clearly saying that if someone else was in charge of this cursed technique, then they could've been world-beaters. In a way, it is a shame to see Takaba never fulfill his potential, but at the same time, he is true to his character because these things don't really matter to him in any significant way. All he cares about is comedy and that's what makes him so interesting.
Megumi Also Tops The List Of Characters With Wasted Potential
Fans Can't Forget Potential Man Megumi
Of course, when speaking of wasted characters, Megumi Fushiguro also comes to mind. Megumi is known to be a very powerful character, with tons of potential. According to Gojo himself, Megumi could rival his strength one day if he tapped into his true powers. His cursed technique, along with his domain expansion, could've made him unbeatable. Unfortunately, Megumi never fulfilled any of his potential and the author largely wasted his character, which is truly a shame. He didn't achieve much in JJK, and the fact that his growth was stopped midway through the series for the sake of Sukuna speaks volumes. Truly, Megumi is the definition of wasted potential. Hopefully, Gege will focus on Megumi Fushiguro in some one-shot later down the line as that's the best he can do for this character now.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
