Maru is the exact embodiment of certain elements of Gojo Satoru. Clearly, Maru isn't the strongest in Jujutsu Kaisen, and that goes without saying. However, he doesn't need to be. Maru is overpowered and that's quite clear. It is his kindhearted nature that makes the fans see Gojo in him. Maru's bubbly personality is very similar to that of Gojo, and on top of that, the heartwarming comedic elements attached to his character make him akin to Gojo. Added to that is the fact that, in his own simple way, Maru wants to change the world. He wants coexistence with humans and he wants to avoid suffering and bloodshed. While Gojo Satoru is dead, Maru is still alive and it doesn't come as a surprise to know that most Gojo fans absolutely adore Maru due to the similarities between the two. Maru Will never truly be Gojo, but he doesn't need to be. He shares some elements with Gojo, and Gege has ensured that he builds on that and makes a unique character that only flourishes as the story continues. Undoubtedly, Maru and Cross are two of Gege's best creations in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see where the author takes their story.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free.
