For Jujutsu Kaisen fans, January 2026 is going to be a month to remember. After all, Jujutsu Kaisen is returning with its third season. Since the announcement, fans have been waiting to see the action that the new season brings.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Season 3 Will Have The Biggest Fights Yet
How is Jujutsu Kaisen aiming to go bigger than the Shibuya Incident? Only a huge battle royale set across the country, of course.
Since JJK Season 2 ended in December 2023, some fans may not remember it clearly. So, it's imperative to start with the recap of the second season. Without going into too much detail, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2's main highlight was the entirety of the Shibuya Incident arc. It saw several character deaths, many epic fights, and obviously, the incident involving the greatest jujutsu sorcerer in the world.
Gojo Satoru Was Sealed Away By Kenjaku
Fans will remember how Gojo Satoru was sealed during the Shibuya Incident arc by Kenjaku. The latter had crafted a cunning plan to exhaust Gojo Satoru and then seal him away without too much resistance. At one point, it seemed that nothing bad would happen to the sorcerer, but eventually it became clear that Gojo Satoru would fall for Kenjaku's plan. With Gojo Satoru out of the way, Kenjaku was free to carry out the phase of his plan.
There is no denying that Gojo Satoru's capture greatly benefited Kenjaku and the cursed spirits, as it meant they no longer had to deal with the strongest sorcerer in the world. At the same time, it unshackled the hands of the higher-ups at Jujutsu High, allowing them to exert their will freely without any problems. One of the first things that they did was to order the execution of Itadori Yuji.
Yuta Okkotsu Is Hunting Itadori Yuji
In the finale of Season 2, Yuta Okkotsu made his appearance, sending fans into a state of ecstasy. However, it soon became clear that it wasn't going to be a happy return, as Yuta soon made it clear that he was not coming to Yuji's aid. The former was sent to annihilate Yuji and put an end to the threat of Ryomen Sukuna.
Of course, Itadori has grown a lot stronger since the beginning of the series, but he is still not ready to fight someone of Yuta's caliber. After all, he is a special grade jujutsu sorcerer. So, Itadori Yuji's priority should be to stay far away from Yuta.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 1 And 2 Release Date

Both Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episodes 1 and 2 will be released on January 8th, 2026. The first episode is titled "Execution," while the second is called "Once more/again." The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime has shared several preview images for the two episodes, and just by looking at them, it's abundantly clear that Itadori Yuji and Yuta Okkotsu will be in the limelight. Obviously, nobody is going to be surprised by this, especially after the conclusion of season 2.

In the preview images, Yuta and Yuji can be seen fighting. So, it's safe to assume that there will be a lot of action in the first two episodes. What's interesting is how Yuji will survive the onslaught. As previously stated, with Gojo Satoru out of the picture, Yuji is no longer protected and can easily be targeted. Hopefully, the hero will be aided by others.
Jujutsu Kaisen Just Received A Big Update For Future Seasons From Gojo's Voice Actor
Gojo's voice actor made a shocking comment that could affect the future of JJK's anime seasons.
A lot of new characters will make their debut in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. The new additions are all the more important in the new season, as there is an urgency to fill the void created by Gojo Satoru. These characters are not a like-for-like replacement, but that doesn't mean they are underwhelming.
They have important roles in the story, so fans shouldn't judge them too early. It will be interesting to see if any of the new characters will debut in the first and second episodes. It makes sense for the fresh faces to appear once the fight between Yuji and Yuta has wrapped up.
