After the loss of Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 236 and Choso’s after that, fans were waiting to see which major death would be next in Modulo, and sure enough, Gege has now given the readers exactly that. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 9 officially confirmed the first major death of the series, and it is that of Dura, a legend of the Rumelians. After trying to close the gap between different races and unify people, Dura faced a tragic death that broke all the fans’ hearts.

Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo finally received its first major sad death in the recent flashback. In this flashback, fans got to see Dura, one of the most important characters of the story, who also happened to be the primary caretaker of Maru and Cross. 2026's biggest anime finally has a release date, and fans are hyped.
Though his ideals were pure, he ended up dying to the same hatred that divided the people of his world. Dura's death was a shocking turn of events in the flashback, and it had a profound effect on Maru and Cross. In fact, the whole reason why Maru and Cross even went to Earth to begin with is because Dura wanted them to seek a place where they could coexist with their neighbors with love in their hearts. Essentially, Dura is the trigger for the entire story of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and that's what makes him so special.

Dura is only the first Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo character that Gege has killed off, but fans know that he loves to give the fans shocking heartbreak. Gege wants the fans to always be nervous about the fate of their favorite characters. Everyone can die at any point in the story, and that only adds to the charm of Jujutsu Kaisen.

For now, only Dura has died in Modulo, but another death could follow. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo has already foreshadowed the return of Yuji Itadori as well as his impending death. For fans who don't remember, Yuji being alive was confirmed when Mahito stated that he hadn't met him yet. In other words, Yuji and Mahito could meet in Modulo, and that can only happen after Yuji dies.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the biggest shonen series in the world. The manga, which ended in late 2024, can be read online for free. It is available to access on Manga Plus, where this series used to be made available weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen currently has a sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, which runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 9 will be released on November 2, 2025.
