JUJUTSU KAISEN Hidden Inventory/Premature Death is the theatrical re-release of the first five episodes of the second season of the JUJUTSU KAISEN anime. The film ranked at #4 in its opening weekend at the Japanese Box Office, with 138 000 tickets sold to the tune of 198,332,500 yen (about US$1.38 million) in the first three days of its run.

The film opened on May 30, with a special acoustic version of Tatsuya Kitani's "Ao no Sumika", the theme of the second season of JUJUTSU KAISEN, serving as the compilation film's opening theme song. The film has been licensed for English release by GKIDS, and will be available to North American audiences on July 16, screening in both subbed and dubbed formats.

The Compilation Features A Brand-New Ending Scene

JUJUTSU KAISEN Hidden Inventory/Premature Death is the compilation of the first five episodes of the second season of the JUJUTSU KAISEN anime series, which delves into the tragic backstory of series poster child, Satoru Gojō, and his friendship with former Jujutsu Technical High School student Suguru Getō, who turned heel after a series of traumatic incidents and his development of hatred for Non-Sorcerers, seeking to establish a new world order with Jujutsu Sorcerers as the primary mode of being.

The compilation film has been positioned as a little more than just a repackaging of the aforementioned arc in the anime, with a brand-new ending scene reportedly being in JUJUTSU KAISEN Hidden Inventory/Premature Death that Getō voice actor Takahiro Sakurai described as quite the gut punch, even if you already know how it all ends.

The compilation film is directed by JUJUTSU KAISEN season 2 director Shōta Goshozono, with series composition and screenplay by Hiroshi Seko, character designs by Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu, with art direction by Junichi Higashi, 3D direction by Daisuke Ishikawa of Monster's Egg, photography direction by Teppei Ito and music by Yoshimasa Terui. The cast of the anime series remain the main cast of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death compilation film, with Yūichi Nakamura as Satoru Gojō, Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Getō, Aya Endō as Shōko Ieiri, Anna Nagase as Riko Amanai and Takehito Koyasu (Dio Brando, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) as Tōji Fushiguro. With its first-week placement at #4 on the Box Office, JUJUTSU KAISEN's compilation film finds itself in the top 5, with titles like the 28th Detective Conan (Case Closed) film, One-eyed Flashback, which opened at #1, and is sitting solidly at #2 in its seventh weekend.
