This article contains spoilers from Solo Leveling and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
Crunchyroll's biggest and most successful anime for 2025 was the anime adaptation of Chugong's incredible light novel, Solo Leveling. Fans have come to love Solo Leveling for the action that it offers and the exciting pacing that always keeps the watchers on the edge of their seats. While in terms of quality, there were arguably better anime in 2025 than Solo Leveling, on Crunchyroll, the series seemed to dominate, especially in terms of reviews and ratings. Solo Leveling Season 2 was an absolute phenomenon this year, which is exactly why fans are sad right now that it won't return in Winter 2026.
New Solo Leveling Movie Is Reportedly Coming In 2026
Solo Leveling is getting unexpected content - a brand new movie. This movie could be coming as early as 2026.
As most Solo Leveling fans probably know already, Solo Leveling Season 3 hasn't been officially announced yet, even though it's quite obvious that it'll return at some point in the future. That said, the winter lineup for 2026 is so strong that fans don't even need to worry. Solo Leveling's loss will be mitigated by the return of an even bigger Shonen that fans absolutely adore, and that's Jujutsu Kaisen. After a long wait, Jujutsu Kaisen will officially return with its Season 3, and it'll hit Crunchyroll as bigger than ever before. Fans absolutely cannot wait to see what Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 has to offer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Will Replace Solo Leveling As January 2026's Biggest Anime Release On Crunchyroll
Solo Leveling Season 3 Hasn't Been Announced Yet
- Solo Leveling Season 3 will likely come out in 2027
- Jujutsu Kaisen will dominate in 2026
Fans expected Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 to drop in 2025, but due to production reasons, the best time for it to be released was deemed to be Winter 2026. The first announcement for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 was officially made in December 2024, and in the fall of 2025, fans finally got a release date.
Sukuna, can you hear it? The era of the Heian is almost upon us again! — Kenjaku, Jujutsu Kaisen
It's now been confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will officially drop in January 2026, which means that it'll air around the same time as Solo Leveling did in 2025.
In just about every way, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will be the perfect replacement for Solo Leveling. Not only does it feature high-octane action like Chugong's story, but it actually does fat better in that department. Fights in Jujutsu Kaisen are far more exciting, with bigger stakes than Solo Leveling. More than that, there is actually an enjoyable plot that fans are invested in, and that only adds to it and makes it one of the best modern anime, if not the best. Given how strong Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 looks and the content that it'll animate, fans are sure that it'll dominate 2026 as the best anime series.

Frieren Is Another Big Contender
Jujutsu Kaisen's Hype Will Give It The Edge
Of course, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 won't be the only big release that the fans will see in January 2026. Frieren is also returning with its second season, and it has all the fans excited too. Frieren is famous for being the highest rated anime on MAL, and it boasts an incredible cast of characters. In the absence of Solo Leveling, Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren will go head to head in the Winter 2026 anime season, but only one can come out on top, and a betting person would pick Jujutsu Kaisen to come out on top.
Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. Meanwhile, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will officially hit Crunchyroll in January 2026.
