Ryomen Sukuna may be one of the most menacing main antagonists in anime over the last decade, perhaps reaching levels comparable to those of Griffith and Shou Tucker. As the renowned strongest sorcerer in history, Sukuna plays a pivotal part in Jujutsu Kaisen and ends as the final boss of the series.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Has Already Revealed Sukuna's Two Equals
Sukuna has two equals in the JJK series. Gege reveals their identities.
Throughout the story, Sukuna displays multiple moments of immense power that make the main cast of characters look completely incapable of facing off against him. Even in the final battle, victory never seems possible, as Sukuna constantly adapts and overcomes even the most lethal blows, responding by committing some of the most atrocious acts. Here are some of Sukuna's most overpowered moments in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Giving Himself A Peak Physical Form
After A Grueling Battle, Sukuna Self-Repairs
Sukuna is a master strategist whose backup plans have backup plans. As he draws the curtain on his sinister plot, the Sorcerers of Jujutsu High and their allies declare war on Sukuna and swarm the battlefield to take down the King of Curses.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Reveals 3 Next Gen JJK Characters That Can Replace Gojo Satoru
Gojo's death shook the JJK world, but these 3 new gen sorcerers will replace him
After a devastating battle against Satoru Gojo Kashimo, Sukuna is left deformed and weak. Shockingly, Sukuna had a contingency and utilized a way to fully reincarnate his old, perfect body into the modern day right before Yuji, Yuta, and the rest went in for the kill. Thanks to this, Sukuna gained four arms, multiple mouths, and healed from all the damage he endured in the previous fights, and a chance to prove why he was the strongest sorcerer in history.
Outclassing Jogo In Their Fight In Shibuya
The King Of Curses Beats The King Of Flames At His Own Game
The first big demonstration of Sukuna's power was delivered in the Shibuya arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most action-packed arcs in the entire series. With Satoru Gojo being sealed and a near-dead Yuji being force-fed ten cursed fingers, Sukuna was able to run rampant through the district. His first order of business was to fight Jogo, promising to work alongside him if he could land a single blow in combat. The following violence was something Jogo never expected, a strength unlike Satoru Gojo's. In the final moments, Sukuna and Jogo had a fierce clash, flame against flame, and Jogo was left burnt to a crisp.
Copying Satoru Gojo And Healing His brain Mid-Fight
Anything Gojo Can Do, Sukuna Can Do Better
The long-awaited fight between Gojo and Sukuna didn't waste a single second with ceremony, with both fighters unleashing their Domain Expansion simultaneously. The battle waged on over who could overpower the other first, and while their exchanges were violent, both were being worn down under the stress of their own techniques. While typically, Sorcerers using their Domain Expansion come at a grave cost, including a burnt-out technique period, Gojo displayed his mastery over the Reverse Cursed technique, healing the damage to his body and recovering his technique. Even more shocking, witnessing this tactic, Suluna added it to his own bag and healed his own brain, revitalizing his technique just like Gojo.
Turning Shibuya Into A Mass Grave
Sukuna Unleashes His Domain On The Entire City
Shibuya was turned into Skuna's playground once he was released, thanks to Jogo, the special grade curse, who fed him ten fingers. Once unleashed, Sukuna decided to enjoy himself, and the ensuing chaos was catastrophic. A fight against Jogo left nothing but scorched earth in its wake, and to make matters worse, Sukuna also faced off against Mahoraga, which led to one of the most frightful displays of power from the King of Curses. In one night, Sulkuna transformed Shibuya into a landing zone, a large black spot on a map that once housed a thriving community of innocent people.
Taking On The Entire Cast At Once
Sukuna Holds His Own On Nearly Every Character In The Series
The final battle against Sukuna began as a gauntlet with waves of opponents descending onto the battlefield to wear the king of curses down before striking the final blow. However, the battle grew fierce, and Sukuna seemed to be unkillable as he withstood some of the most powerful attacks from some of the most powerful sorcerers left alive. In the final chapters, Sukuna was taking on Yuji, Yuta, Maki, and even Takumo all at once after several lengthy battles and still holding his own. The combined might of the sorcerers aiming to take down Sukuna was barely enough to make him break a sweat, as it was a precise moment that depicted the level of strength Sukuna had obtained.
Fighting After Being Stabbed Through The Heart
The King Of Curses Doesn't Need A Heartbeat To Win
One of the best fights in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga was when Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu teamed up to face the King of Curses in an epic battle for the fate of the world. Both Yuta and Yuji became brutal combatants, willing to resort to any kind of savagery to create a single opening.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Reveals Who Is Stronger Between Gojo And Sukuna
Who was stronger between Gojo and Sukuna has been a long debated question in the JJK fandom. Gege teases the answer to this.
This opportunity finally presented itself after a combined effort from Yuji and Yuta, attacking Sukuna's soul, giving Makin a window to ambush Sukuna and stab him with the soul-splitting blade straight through the heart. While this should have been enough to cripple the strongest sorcerer in history, it barely seemed to slow him down. Sukuna continued his rampage even with a gaping hole in his chest.
Tanking Being Hit By His Own Technique
No Weapon Forged Against Sukuna Shall Prosper
One of Sukuna's most devastating attacks was his cleave and dismantle, which would slice and dice anything in its path. As Yuji and Yuta tried to overwhelm Sukuna inside Yuta's Domain, they resorted to whatever tactics were needed to accomplish their task.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Reveals Who Yuta Okkotsu Ends Up With
Yuta had one of the better endings in JJK. Fans even get to see his grandchildren.
Known for his copy ab, Yuta was able to mimic Sukuna's ability. Surprisingly, Yuji followed suit and used Dismantle after the technique had been engraved in his soul while being Sukuna's first host. Unfortunately, neither attack made much difference to Sukuna, who walked both strikes off and barely flinched as his own technique dug into his own flesh.
Surviving Jacob's Ladder
Sukuna Withstands A Technique Designed To Kill Him
A hidden trump card in the final battle against Sukuna was the reincarnated sorcerer Angel, who had been brought into the modern day by the Culling Games. Angel had developed a symbiotic relationship with a young girl, exhibiting much more restraint than the other sorcerers brought back to life, primarily due to her focus. Angel desired to meet Sukuna on the battlefield and destroy him. Angel's technique eradicates cursed energy, attacking Sukuna while in his host body would remove him, and thus win the war against the King of Curses. During the final battle, Sukuna was struck twice with Jacob's Ladder and survived both times, breaking the laws of the technique despite taking significant damage.
