This article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is on quite an impressive run at the moment, and with each passing chapter, fans are being introduced to some incredibly exciting characters. Gege Akutami has managed to introduce the fans to a plethora of new characters, but he has also not forgotten the old generation characters that made the series as great as it is today.
After 2 Years, Gege Akutami Is Set To Kill The New Biggest JJK Character
JJK Modulo's new big character has major death flags. The death of this character will change the trajectory of the story.
Fans have been long awaiting the introduction of characters like Yuji Itadori, especially since it was confirmed that he is alive and well. While Yuji isn't properly back in the story, another character has now been brought back by Gege Akutami, and that is none other than Rika, the Queen of Curses.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Is Finally Teasing The Return Of Old Legends
- Modulo Brings Back Yuji Itadori
- Rika Returns In The New JJK Modulo Chapter
When Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo began, fans were surprised to see that a massive jump in time had taken place. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo is set 68 years after the conclusion of the Sukuna Raid, in which Yuji Itadori defeated the King of Curses for good. The fact that this new story was set many decades after meant that the vast majority of the main cast of the series had already died. This would also mean that Gege would probably not introduce too many new characters to the plot. Against all odds, however, Gege did manage to tease characters from the old generation every now and then.
In the very first chapter, Gege Akutami reintroduced Gojo Satoru, Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, and even Maki Zenin in the story. Of course, not all of them returned to the plot as characters to drive the story forward, but some certainly held the potential, such as Yuji. In either case, it was quite clear for the fans to see that Gege Akutami was clearly set on incorporating the old generation characters into the plot slowly, especially where it made sense. That is precisely why Yuji Itadori is so important to the overall plot line of JJK Modulo at the moment.
It must also be remembered that as Modulo heads closer to its end, these old-generation characters will become only more relevant, and since the final battles have now begun, fans are awaiting the legends of the old era to show up. Of course, the likes of Yuta and Maki can't show up since they are dead already. Nobara is incredibly old to be able to do anything, and Megumi has most certainly died at this point. The only character that fans are awaiting at the moment is Yuji Itadori, the current new strongest generation sorcerer. But many fans also forget about another important character, Rika.
Rika is the Queen of Curses and one of the most powerful characters from the original JJK series. Against all odds, Rika has now officially shown up in JJK Modulo and she is here to stay for the final battle against Maru.
Rika Is Officially Back In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo
- Rika Was Meant For Yuka Okkotsu
- She Has Now Bonded With Tsurugi Okkotsu
The Queen of Curses, Rika, was a very important part of the original JJK series. In fact, Gege Akutami actually wrote Rika into the story before JJK even began, given that she actually comes from JJK0, the prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen. Rika and Yuta had a very strong connection with each other, and this was largely down to the love that they shared. As fans know, Yuta cursed Rika, but she later went on to become the source of power for him. With the power of Copy at their disposal, Yuta and Rika formed a formidable duo the likes of which could not be matched by many in the story of JJK.
Their true power was shown in the big battles that came later down the line in the story, such as the clash against Ryomen Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. With Rika, Yuta was clearly a threat. Even Sukuna came to admire him at the end, and that was truly a proper showing of his strength.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege Akutami Officially Kills Off His Main Character
JJK's sequel marked the beginning of a new era for the series. The death of Gege's main character is now official.
Ah, this sucks. You really took after her. But I'll help you out since I promised Yuta that I would. Say I accept, and I'll help you. — Rika to Tsurugi Okkotsu in JJK Modulo
Now, 69 years later, Rika is officially back. In JJK's most recent chapter, fans saw Tsurugi being overpowered by Maru in combat after his full awakening. Maru was quite clearly going to kill Tsurugi at this point in time, and that is when Rika decided to intercept. Rika forced Tsurugi to accept her power, and when he did, the two seemed to fuse together. This is a new form of power that Rika seems to have unlocked at some point, and perhaps even Yuta gained access to this form. Regardless, now, Tsurugi has access to the power of Rika, and fans finally have another look at the Queen of Curses in JJK Modulo.
Rika Could Become Tsurugi’s Permanent Power
When JJK Modulo officially began, it was quite clear for the fans to see that Rika was actually a power-up meant for Yuka Okkotsu. Yuta himself entrusted Rika to Yuka, and Tsurugi did not want to inherit her power at all, given that he was more interested in following in the footsteps of Maki Zenin. Yet, in a twist of fate, now Rika's power has become Tsurugi's. It is still unclear whether Rika is permanently bound to Tsurugi now or not. The fact is that Rika was accepted by Tsurugi, and usually, after a bond is formed, it isn't broken.
That said, things could change drastically later down the line after the final battle. After all, Yuka was the one who was promised the power of Rika. If Yuka does manage to survive, then Rika will most likely go to her. On the other hand, if Yuka really does die, then it is quite obvious that Tsurugi will continue to hold on to her powers. At the moment, the chances for Rika to become the permanent power of Tsurugi are very high.
Yuta’s Wish Was For Rika To Pass To Yuka Okkotsu
As long as Yuta's own wishes go, fans know that he entrusted the power of Rika to Yuka. This has to be important to the story because Yuta quite clearly knew both of his grandchildren. He most certainly loved Tsurugi as well, and that goes without saying. Despite that, he knew that this power was more suited to Yuka Okkotsu. For some reason, Yuta made this important decision, and it has to lead to something later down the line. In fact, it would actually be very strange if Yuta did not mention protecting Yuka to Rika.
Rika even mentioned in the latest JJK Modulo chapter that Yuta made her promise that she would not let harm come to any of his grandchildren. In such a case, it is rather strange as to why Rika has not helped Yuka Okkotsu with her brain tumor yet. Perhaps, that is a plot point that is going to be explored later down the line, once Rika forges a bond with Yuka Okkotsu. In either case, fans absolutely cannot wait to see what comes next in JJK Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen's sequel, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, runs in the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine. The series is set 68 years into the future, after the events of Shinjuku Showdown.
