There is no character in the modern state of the anime industry who has taken the world by storm as much as Satoru Gojo. Of course, much of this had to do with the way the character was designed since Gege Akutami really knocked it out of the park by perfectly encapsulating the strongest character in the form of someone so confident and captivating. All of this was reinforced by how strong he was shown to be.

Throughout the series, every single villain and hero always spoke of him in this regard, having to center their entire plans around Gojo, which the villains did in ways that would avoid direct conflict with him. The only other person with as much of an aura of strength and danger surrounding him is Ryomen Sukuna, who is known as the strongest sorcerer in history. When the series started, both of these powerhouses were destined to fight, which they finally did in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

The battle was fierce, with Sukuna coming out on top, but barely so. The subsequent battles with the rest of the Jujutsu sorcerers showed just how apart these two were from everyone else. Only Sukuna and Gojo could have taken one another on at full capacity, and the main reason for this is their philosophy of life. Due to their unmatched power leaving them in isolation from everyone, they were able to hone their strength by not having to rely on anyone else, which led to them becoming the strongest of their time. Their approaches to this were different, since Gojo hated being so alone while Sukuna reveled in it, but ultimately, it bred the strongest warriors.

Gojo actively tried to change this mindset in his students. He believed that he and Sukuna were exceptions and that their ways of life were not ideal for others since only they could deal with the loneliness that came with being the strongest, so he believed that he had to foster the strength of his pupils so that they all had each other to rely on, which he and Sukuna never did.
