This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.

In the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, Yuta gave his ring to Yuka instead of Tsurugi Okkotsu for some reason. However, as JJK fans know, the Gojo Clan intervened and forced the ring onto Tsurugi, leaving a distraught Yuka. This intriguing setup reinforced Yuka and Tsurugi’s rivalry, yet the reason why Yuta chose Yuka as the new owner of the ring remains unanswered.

As Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo releases more chapters, fans are quick to speculate that Yuta’s decision was a deliberate choice tied to Yuka’s abilities. As the new user of the Ten Shadows Technique, Yuka may be more compatible with the ring, allowing her to tame Mahoraga, strengthen her shikigami, or even unlock a level of power nobody has ever seen before in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuka Okkotsu Was Meant to Inherit Yuta’s Ring

Yuka Could Have Become the Strongest Next-Gen Sorcerer

  • Yuta Okkotsu gave Rika's ring to Yuka for her protection.
  • Yuka doesn't have the ring with her now.

As fans know, Yuta Okkotsu’s ring serves as a medium to summon Rika and gain access to her abilities, making it extremely valuable and dangerous. Before Yuta passed away, he entrusted the ring to Yuka Okkotsu to protect her, knowing her impulsive tendencies. According to Yuta, the ring will watch over Yuka until she becomes a full-fledged sorcerer, so he expects her to work hard and do her best.

I want you to have this ring.—Yuta to Yuka Okkotsu

On that note, Yuka was meant to inherit Yuta’s ring, including the power to summon Rika and use her abilities. However, Rika has yet to appear in JJK Modulo, likely because the Gojo Clan disrespected Yuta’s decision and gave the ring to Tsurugi instead. If only the ring had stayed in Yuka’s possession, she could have become the strongest next-generation sorcerer in JJK Modulo with Rika and the Ten Shadows Technique to surpass all her peers.

Yuka Could Have Tamed Mahoraga With Rika

Yuka Is Currently in a State of Suspended Death

In recent chapters of JJK Modulo, Yuka spawned the Divine General Mahoraga in her attempt to defeat Dabura Karaba in the duel that will determine the future of Japan. The summoning ritual was successful, dragging Dabura into the extermination of Mahoraga while Yuka is in a state of suspended death. Whichever side wins, Yuka will die. This is the worst-case scenario, as fans prefer to see Yuka survive no matter what happens.

Imagine how different things could have become if Yuka had the ring in her possession. The ring could have prevented her from repeating Megumi Fushiguro’s suicidal strategy, keeping her safe exactly as Yuta had intended. Instead of summoning Mahoraga, she could have summoned Rika against Dabura while exercising control over the other shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique.

On the flip side, even before confronting Dabura, Yuka could have summoned Rika to help tame Mahoraga with Yuta’s ring. She could have been the first sorcerer of Zenin and Okkotsu blood to actually control the Divine General Mahoraga. Regrettably, that’s not possible anymore, as Yuka lost possession of the ring and is now living her final days, powerless to harness Rika’s strength or tame Mahoraga.

The Gojo Clan Forced the Ring to Tsurugi

Yuka’s brother, Tsurugi Okkotsu, is the current owner of Yuta’s ring, despite his initial reluctance and the fact that the ring was originally intended for his sister. However, the ring motivated Tsurugi to train hard, grow stronger than Yuka, and prove his doubters wrong. After all, he believes the ring was forced onto him because the Gojo Clan deemed him weaker than Yuka and in greater need of protection.

From that day forward, Tsurugi vowed to become Maki’s successor, someone who proved her clan wrong with unmatched strength and resolve. With this, Tsurugi embraced the ring, determined to hold onto it until the day he could surpass Yuka. This setup fueled speculation about the Gojo Clan’s abrupt decision to switch the owner of the ring from Yuka to Tsurugi.

Since Yuka became the new Ten Shadows Technique user, the Gojo Clan has had no one with Six Eyes and Limitless to maintain the balance of power, at least for now. This might be the reason why they decided to give the ring to Tsurugi, as Yuka owning Rika and the Ten Shadows Technique could upset the balance between the two clans.
