Wordle went viral earlier this year, causing an explosion of little yellow and green squares all over social media. Originally made by the developer behind powerlanguage, this easy-to-play, browser-based game called Wordle was purchased by the New York Times Games, and it remains on that site. In order to play, players will have to head there to get their daily fix of word guessing.

Once at the right site, players will need to choose a starting word. This word:

Must be five letters long.
Must be a real English word.
Should only be the American spellings of words.
Should be filled with letters common in Wordle puzzles.

Type the chosen word into the Wordle website and press enter. The letters of this first word will then change color, giving players some clues as to the real word of the day.

Green letters are correct and in the right spot in the word.
Yellow letters are correct but in the wrong place in the word.
Gray letters won't appear in the final answer of the puzzle.

Given these clues, players will need to choose a new word. This word's letters will also give more clues. Players continue to guess until they have run out of their six tries or have guessed the correct answer. Puzzles reset daily at 12:00AM local time.
