There are tons of Wordle clones and copycats, but only one true original. This is the New York Times version. The newspaper purchased the game from its developer earlier this year, and the game is now hosted on its Games website. All help in this article will be about that version of the game.

In order to play, head to the website. Choose a starting Wordle word; this word should be a real English word and five-letters long. Choose a word with different letters in it that are commonly used. Once a starting word is chosen, type it into the site and press enter. The letters of the word will then change color, giving players some clues as to the real answer.

Green letters are correct and in the right place in the word.
Yellow letters are right but in the wrong place in the word.
Gray letters won't appear in the final answer.

Given these clues, players have just six total tries to get to the answer of the day. There is only one puzzle per day, and it resets at midnight local time every day. Once the puzzle is complete, the Wordle menu will pop up on the screen. This is where players will not only find the spoiler-free share button, but also a collection of their stats of all the puzzles played on that specific device and browser. Stats include number of puzzles played, winning streak, and more.
