Wordle is one year old today, and it is celebrating with another five-letter word for players to guess. In order to play and win today, some players may need some hints or the full answer.
How To Play Wordle
One year ago today, Josh Wardle of power language released Wordle into the world, and what a year it has been. In this last year, Wordle went viral across many social media sites, became massively popular, and then Wordle was purchased by the New York Times in February. It now lives on the NYTs Games website, where it is still currently free to play.
There are tons of copycats of Wordle out there, but the NYTs Games version is the one this article is all about. Other versions will have different answers and can even have different rules. Here's how to play the original version of Wordle:
- Head to the website with any device with a browser.
- Choose a starting Wordle word. It needs to be five-letters long, a real English word, and not one of the many words censored by the New York Times.
- Type the chosen word into the site and press enter.
- The letters will change colors to help players get closer to the correct answer: green are right, gray are wrong, and yellow are right but in the wrong place in the word.
- Using these hints, players have a total of six tries to get to the answer.
- Puzzles reset daily at midnight.
