Wordle is a once-daily puzzle game with a simple set of rules: players have just six tries to guess a mystery five-letter word. While this game may seem easy, it can be quite the challenge for players. And today's puzzle is no exception.
How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a browser-based game that can be played with almost any internet-connected device. Players just have to head to the Wordle website to play. Here are all the rules players need to know to get started on their first word.
Head to the New York Times Games version of the Wordle website. There are loads of clones and copycats out there, but this one is the original. It was created by the developer of powerlanguage, but Wordle was purchased by the New York Times in February to add to its game page. All answers, hints, and rules in this article will be about the NYTs Wordle only.
After getting to the right site, choose a great starting word. Wordle words all follow some simple instructions:
- Wordle words are five letters long.
- They are all real English words.
- No offensive words are allowed.
- While Wordle answers are almost never plural nouns that end in S, players can use them as guesses.
- Most Wordle answers are the American spellings of words.
- Starting words should have several of the common letters in Wordle puzzles and two vowels.
Type the chosen starting word into the website and press enter. The letter with change color to give players some clues as to the real word.
- Green letters are right.
- Yellow letters are right but in the wrong position in the word.
- Gray are incorrect and won't appear in the answer.
