How To Play Wordle

Although there are loads of copycats, like the Wordle clone about guessing video games, the original is on the New York Times Games website. While it was originally hosted on powerlanguage, the NYTs Games purchased it back in February 2022. This is the Wordle that this article will be about; others will have different answers and may have slightly different rules. So the first step to learning to play is to head to the right site.

Head to the New York Times Games Wordle website.
Choose a starting five-letter Wordle word. It must be a real English word, and it should not be any of the potentially offensive words that the NYTs removed from the answer pool.
Type the chosen word into the site.
Press enter.
The letters will change colors: green letters are right, gray are wrong, and yellow are right but in the wrong place in the word.
Given these clues, players have just six total guesses to get to the word of the day.
There is one puzzle every day, and it resets at midnight local time. This is part of the reason why there are so many popular clones of it out there.

After finishing the puzzle of the day, players should check out the Wordle menu. It pops up automatically after puzzles are done, but it can also be accessed at anytime by pressing the graph icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
