HBO boss Robert Greenblatt reveals that Justice League Snyder Cut is going to be incredibly expensive to make. Last week, it was announced that Justice League Snyder Cut would be available on HBO Max in 2021, potentially making the movie one of the biggest reasons to sign up for the streaming service.
Speaking to the Recode Media podcast, Greenblatt said that "it isn't as easy as going into the vault and there's a Snyder Cut sitting there to put out." The movie, which will feature "new effects shots" is a "radical rethinking of that movie and it's complicated and wildly expensive." Greenblatt did not reveal how much Justice League Snyder Cut would cost but said that "I'll just say I wish it was $30 million and stop there."
Fans of the DC Extended Universe may be surprised that the movie will cost so much to make. It has been revealed that the Justice League Snyder Cut team will not be able to do any reshoots. It may be that the new special effects and editing movies are really just that expensive.
However, while Greenblatt wishes that the movie would cost much less to make, HBO Max could potentially get it all back as DC fans sign up for a subscription to the service. Several DCEU shows will be added to HBO Max, also helping to get fans to spend money on it.
