- Fans can expect an anime adaptation with Cygames Pictures handling animation.
Kagurabachi has just announced a sudden break next week. Kagurabachi is currently one of the flagship titles in Shueisha's Shonen Jump, and it has recently been described by many as "the next-generation hit," or even "the new Jujutsu Kaisen." There are many expectations that an anime adaptation will turn the series into a massive worldwide hit.
Kagurabachi began serialization in 2023, and it follows a different premise than most Shonen Jump hits. Instead of looking for greatness, success, and/or power, the main character, Chihiro Rokuhira, wants to avenge his father's murder. He goes on his journey with one of the seven Enchanted Blades forged by his late father, and he wants to get the other six back after a group of sorcerers stole them.
Jujutsu Kaisen's Successor Manga Is Already Here
JJK is one of the biggest manga series. Its successor might already be here.
Kagurabachi Will Be On a Sudde Break
The official Kagurabachi account on X (formerly Twitter) has just announced that the series will take a sudden break next week. The chapter that was set to be released on June 15 has been rescheduled for June 22, 2025. The short hiatus is because creator Takeru Hokazono suddenly fell ill. It hasn't been revealed what kind of illness affected him.
[Notice]
Kagurabachi, which would get a new chapter in Shonen Jump #29 (June 15), will be on a break due to the author's sudden illness.
The next chapter will be published in Shonen Jump #30 (June 22).
Thank you for understanding.
Fans were surprised by the sudden news, but most comments were positive, wishing Hokazono a speedy recovery. The series is considered one of the best action manga in serialization, and has even been endorsed by great artists, such as Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto, so fans can surely wait one more week to keep reading the story.
Kagurabachi Anime Is Coming
Since the series has become very popular, probably no one was really surprised when Toyo Keizai claimed that an anime adaptation is in the works—there had been many rumors suggesting that there were deals going on regarding an anime adaptation of the story. However, so far, this is the only credible information to have surfaced, and so many prefer to wait until Shonen Jump officially announces the series.
What took fans by surprise is that Cygames Pictures (Umamusume: Road to the Top) will be in charge of the animation, according to Toyo Keizai. Many were expecting MAPPA, Bones, or maybe Ufotable to take this project. We might get more information at Anime Expo 2025; perhaps a release window could be announced. Netflix has also teased that it may be involved in the adaptation, so news might be unveiled during the Netflix Showcase on July 5.
Kagurabachi is available to read on MANGA Plus in English, Spanish, and many other languages.
