Popular content creator Kai Cenat has been busy during his hiatus from Twitch, as he explained that he was focusing his full attention on developing his new fashion brand. Kai Cenat said that he took a break from Twitch following his Mafiathon 3 event in September 2025 to focus on his mental health, and said that he had been dealing with impostor syndrome and feelings of self-doubt for some time.

After starting his content creation career on YouTube through vlogs, Kai Cenat first started streaming on Twitch in 2021. Since jumping into full-time livestreaming, Cenat has played through various games like the Batman: Arkham trilogy and Soulslike titles such as Elden Ring and Bloodborne. As of this writing, Kai Cenat's last broadcast on Twitch was the Mafiathon 3 event that took place throughout September 2025. In short, Mafiathon 3 was a month-long 'subathon' that saw the popular content creator joined by celebrities like NBA superstar LeBron James and recording artist Mariah Carey for various activities. Cenat stated that 15% of all subscriber revenue earned during Mafiathon 3 would go toward building a school in Nigeria.

Kai Cenat Has Stayed Busy During His Twitch Hiatus

Given that Kai Cenat remains one of the most popular content creators on social media despite his hiatus, he has not rested on his laurels. On January 13, Kai Cenat released a YouTube video titled "I Quit" that explained he was putting all of his effort into launching a clothing brand called Vivet. Cenat developed the Vivet fashion brand after taking a trip to Italy and learned some sewing skills. Previously, Cenat said that he had been dealing with impostor syndrome for several months, and that he had lingering feelings of self-doubt that prevented him from pursuing some of his passions. Cenat said that the extended break from Twitch and livestreaming in general has been good for his mental health, and that he needed to reset his streaming schedule. Cenat also said he's been uploading content to a personal YouTube channel called Kai's Mind, including light workouts and book reading.

In a short video posted by TMZ, Cenat said that the break from Twitch allowed him to "indulge" in the world of fashion development as much as possible. During Mafiathon 3, Cenat reclaimed the record for the most subscribed content creator on Twitch, based on all-time subscriber counts at any given point. Cenat's peak active subscriber count reached 1,112,947 during his previous broadcasts. Additionally, Cenat previously established a record during 2024's Mafiathon 2 event, where he gained over 320,000 Twitch subscribers. Although Cenat's Twitch subscriber count has shrunk down to 46,210 as of this writing, that has not stopped some of Cenat's 20.2 million Twitch followers from continuing to support him. Cenat's current active subscriber count placed him at number six on Twitch's most-subscribed channels. The top spot has since been claimed by Vedal987, who has 343,215 active subscribers as of this writing.

Twitch Has Also Change in Kai Cenat's Absence

Since Cenat's hiatus, Twitch itself has also undergone some changes of its own. Although Twitch introduced a gift subscription feature that allowed users to grant up to 1,000 subscriptions to a single channel, the sheer cost of spending thousands of dollars via a single transaction drew the ire of content creators. Due to the public backlash against gifting 1,000 Twitch subscriptions, Twitch walked back the change and returned the gift subscription limit to its previous cap of 100. Additionally, Twitch made some changes to the way Clips would be counted in the site's analytics. Twitch said that, while this would result in some lower view counts, the numbers would give content creators a more accurate way to see which moments have been popular with their audience.

As for Kai Cenat, he did not state when he would return to Twitch or livestreaming. Although Cenat teased during Mafiathon 3 that Streamer University would return in 2026 despite Cenat's previous comments about discontinuing his involvement, time will tell when fans will see Cenat go live on the Amazon-owned service again.
