Katy Perry thrilled fans of The Sims and her music when she performed Last Friday Night in Simlish live in concert. Long-time fans of the franchise will remember Katy Perry's music being incorporated in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

Fans of The Sims franchise are well-acquainted with Simlish, the spoken language of the Sims themselves. In addition to the in-game characters speaking it, the game franchise has introduced a number of popular songs over the years that have been re-recorded by their artists, with the lyrics converted into Simlish. Katy Perry is just one example, with other artists such as My Chemical Romance, Depeche Mode, The Flaming Lips, and even Yoasobi among the long list of collaborators.

Katy Perry Sings Last Friday Night Live... In Simlish

During one of Katy Perry's tour stops, she was performing songs off her usual setlists when she was handed a piece of paper requesting the Simlish verson of her song, Last Friday Night. The paper included the lyrics to the song on it. Perry showed some hesitation at first, saying "I shouldn't do this," before declaring that she'd perform the chorus, and broke into song. Despite initial concerns that she wouldn't be able to read the text, she did just fine, and the audience cheered her on as she sang the portion of the song. At the end, she jokingly apologized to the audience, saying "you had to be there."

Chances are there were some fans in the audience who had no idea what was going on, or why Katy Perry was suddenly singing gibberish to the tune of one of her most popular songs. The song was originally included in The Sims 3: Katy Perry's Sweet Treats, the sixth Stuff Pack for the game, which launched in January 2012. In promotion for the Stuff Pack, EA released a video from the recording studio of Katy Perry singing the song in Simlish, which went viral at the time, ultimately gaining over 3 million views on YouTube.

Considering it's been 13 years since the song was originally recorded in this form, and it is likely something Perry hasn't thought too much about since, it's impressive that she was able to perform it just like she did back then. After all these years, chances are fans have no real hopes that Perry will appear or perform in Simlish for another Sims game. However, given that this moment has now gone viral, it's possible that it could gain the attention of EA and/or Maxis, and perhaps lead to her being involved once again.
