Kevin Bacon and his family are teaming up on a horror/comedy movie called Family Movie. Variety reported that Bacon, his wife Kyra Sedgwick, and their children Sosie and Travis Bacon are producing and starring in the movie for Mixed Breed Films. Bacon and Sedgwick are also directing the film.

Norman Golightly from Dark Castle Entertainment is also producing the project. Golightly said:

“There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons. We can’t wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences.”

I Think This M. Night Shyamalan Movie Has The Most Disappointing Villain In Years

M. Night Shyamalan is the master of the horror movie twist, but I have some problems with the villain in one of his films.

As Variety explained, Family Movie is a fun, meta horror movie about relatives filming a slasher movie who realize that there is an actual killer on their set. From this description, Family Movie may be like the hilarious Scream movies. Horror fans are always happy to watch a movie that pokes fun at the genre. No character details have been shared yet, but it seems likely that the four main characters will experience some conflict with one another. After all, it's rare that families get along all the time, especially if they're working on a project that means a lot to all of them. Since the Bacon/Sedgwick family are so likable and popular, it will be fun to see them on screen together.

Sosie Bacon as Dr. Rose Cotter in Smile

The Bacon/Sedgwick family are no strangers to the horror genre. Bacon starred in the Blumhouse film They/Them which tells a sad story set at a conversion camp. He also played main character Ryan Hardy who used to be an FBI agent and gets swept up in trying to catch a serial killer in Kevin Williamson's underrated TV series The Following. And, of course, Sosie Bacon played Dr. Rose Cotter in the impressive 2022 horror movie Smile. It will be interesting to see Sosie in another creepy movie.

It makes sense that Kevin Bacon and Sedgwick would work on a horror comedy since they often talk about joking around together. In an interview with People in 2023, Sedgwick said "a sense of humor is crucial" to their long marriage. In the same interview, Bacon also talked about Sedgwick's passion as a director. She previously directed the 2017 TV movie Story of a Girl, which is an adaptation of the young adult novel by Sara Zarr, along with the 2022 movie Space Oddity. Bacon said of Sedgwick:

"She just absolutely adores directing. You can't be a crew or a cast member and not get swept up in that."

There is no release date yet for Family Movie, but fans of the horror/comedy genre will be waiting to find out more.
