Kick has recently added a Report Button to all streams, something that the community has been asking about for a while. This change may help in Kick’s competition against Twitch, as the company has been criticized for its lack of moderation by many people so far.

The streaming platform Kick was founded last year and quickly became Twitch’s greatest rival. With its viewership growing a lot in the first months of the service, and several popular streamers such as Adin Ross, xQc, and Amouranth joining Kick, the platform really took off. However, Twitch still holds first place in viewership, so Kick is coming up with new ideas for improving its services.

Now, Kick support has unveiled the latest feature of the service: the long-awaited Report Button. According to Kick, the button can be used to easily report any stream that violates the Community Guidelines enforced by the company, as this will alert moderators, who will take action as soon as possible to address the reports. Using the button will be pretty straightforward, and it will be located just below the Subscribe button and left of the viewership numbers of the video. After clicking on the button, users can select what they are reporting the video for and will have ten options, which will include topics like hate speech, bullying, nudity, terrorism, and child endangerment, for example. At the time of the announcement, Kick also affirmed that it would take action against misuse of the button, which hints that it may also enforce penalties on users who spam reports. Also, Kick promised that functionality will become more advanced soon in order to serve the community better.

As Kick has been very controversial since its launch, this is a much-appreciated update to help clean its reputation. Despite its highly quick growth, the company has been criticized for bringing several controversial influencers to its roster, promoting gambling in its streams, and lacking efficient moderation. So, this could be a first step to address some of its concerns.

As part of its efforts to improve, Kick is constantly devising more useful features for users. For instance, Kick added two major features last month: chat replay on VODs and clips and a download button for clips. These two updates are aimed at improving the overall usability of the platform, which was launched with more barebones features when compared to Twitch, which has been in the market since 2011.
