Killing Floor 2: How to Install Mods

If you want to add some modded weapons, maps, or even skins to Killing Floor 2, this guide will show you how to properly install mods.

Cosmetics Through the Store

The easiest method you can use to get some cosmetics is by purchasing them through the store. You can find this in the main menu, next to your inventory. In this section, you can find a ton of different cosmetics, such as gas masks, weapon skins, and even headshot FXs for when you finally get that perfect kill in this difficult co-op game.

Keep in mind that some of these cosmetics will be a bit pricey and will cost real money. A single mask can go for $9.99, but there are also cosmetic bundles that contain a multitude of items and go for around $3.99 on sale. You can also find community market cosmetics for much lower prices, with some items such as horns selling for as low as $0.03.

Cosmetics Through Drops

Another easy way to get some cosmetics (and this time for free) is by receiving them through daily drops. Every day when you play in medium or long matches, which can also help you to level up in Killing Floor 2, you'll have the chance to get one random drop. Usually, these will be smaller cosmetics, such as a mask or an eyepatch.

There is no particular method you need to use or map you need to visit to take advantage of drops in Killing Floor 2. All you need to do is participate in as many matches as you can in one day, and you will most likely get one drop a day for free.

Cosmetics Through Crafting

To get new cosmetic items out of old items, you can recycle them and craft new cosmetics. All you need to do is head to your inventory, locate the item you want to recycle under Cosmetics, and choose Recycle. In return, you'll get some Common Cosmetic Materials, which you will need to get a total of 10 pieces to create something new.

Once you have recycled at least 10 unwanted items and have received the required amount of Common Cosmetic Materials, go to the Crafting section in your inventory, and choose Cosmetic Crafting at the bottom left. You can then craft an Uncommon Cosmetic using the 10 Common Cosmetic Materials you picked up. The Uncommon Cosmetic you get in return will be random, so you won't be able to choose the item you want. If you want to craft higher-quality items, you'll need to recycle 10 Uncommon Items, 10 Rare Items, and so on.

Cosmetics Through Trading

The last method you can use is trading. However, with this method, you'll have to sell one of your own items or cosmetics in return for someone else's cosmetics. The best place to find some items that people are willing to trade is through the market, or the Steam trading forum.

Outside of recycling items for crafting, this is the best way to clean out your inventory of items you no longer want in return for some cosmetics. This will take some more time than other methods, however, because you might not be able to trade with others immediately, but you might be able to find a few people willing to trade considering it is a co-op game so you'll be frequently meeting new players.
