  • The Medic's healing skills and mods enhance team survivability against Zeds.
  • The Medic has offensive options for dealing damage while still providing support to the team.

The long-awaited sequel is finally here, and Killing Floor 3 is shaping up to be a pretty decent follow-up to an already cult-classic zombie-slaying series. With new weapons, classes, maps, and enemies, there's a lot to learn, and one of the most important aspects of the game is deciding what class to play and master.

Killing Floor 3 Has a Glaring Flaw, But It Will Only Become Harder to Spot With Time

Killing Floor 3 has one significant issue with content, but its predecessor is proof that the problem won't be a long-lasting one.

The Medic is easily one of the stronger classes in Killing Floor 3, with lower overall DPS but insane supportive potential with his healing output and crowd-control skills that keep the Zeds at bay whilst topping up any low-health teammates. There are plenty of great Skills and builds for the Medic class, but there are a few specific ones that players should aim for if they want the most success at taking out the boss in the final wave.

4 Full Healing

Low Health Is Never An Issue

Key Skills:

  • Stronger Prescription
  • Health Benefit
  • Social Distancing

Key Mods:

  • Healing Grenade Launcher
  • Dart Recharge Kit

For a class that's built around healing, it makes sense that a pure healing build would be pretty good. While the Medic can still dish out some serious damage, if they stat heavily into the supportive areas, there is a slight trade-off to be had. Players can make use of healing skills like Stronger Prescription and Health Benefit to add additional healing numbers without changing their core playstyle, or later on, they can unlock more specific skills like Social Distancing, which allows them to revive downed allies at range with their healing shots. The number of Skills that affect healing directly is pretty large, and the result is a team of constantly full-HP soldiers looking to clear out the Zeds with a vengeance.

For weapons, players will want to buy the LF-85 as soon as possible, which is pretty easy as the weapon is on the cheaper side compared to the other purple-tier weapons. When players are ready to spend their hard-earned materials, mods like the Dart Recharge Kit for the sidearm and the Healing Grenade Launcher make for great additions to the player's healing output, again, whilst keeping their playstyle intact.

3 Aggro Medic

Taking The Fight To The Enemy

Key Skills:

  • Terminal Diagnosis
  • Damage Plan

Key Mods:

  • Ammo Types
  • Suppressor

Sometimes, the best way to support the team is to go on the offensive, and the Medic has more than a few tools in his kit to dish out some serious damage to the Zeds without completely erasing his supportive capabilities in the process. Weapons like the MP6 have a much more aggressive playstyle, with increased mobility and a reduced emphasis on healing aspects. There are also quite a few damage buff attachments that players can make use of to up their DPS and still have the ammo needed to heal low allies on the fly.

Killing Floor 3 Weapon Mods and Customization Explained

The Best War Games sits down with Killing Floor 3 lead combat designer Bill Munk to discuss weapon modifications and customization in the upcoming sequel.

For Skills, the Medic has a few more offensive options, such as Burn Unit early on and Terminal Diagnosis when maxed out, both of which add additional damage to their gadget. There are also some cool Skills like Active Infection, which creates a biological damage cloud when their grenade affects Zeds. So, if players want to opt for more damage over support, the option is there, and when things get dicey, they still have the utility needed to get the team out of even the toughest situations.

2 Utility

More Than Just A Healer

Key Skills:

  • Anesthetist
  • Steroid Injection
  • Strength In Numbers

Key Mods:

  • Confusion Dart Attachment
  • Penetrating Barrel

Healing is one way of supporting the team, but the Medic has plenty of extra tools both in his Mods and his Skills that allow him to bring more than just extra health to the fight. One useful skill is Anesthetist, which turns the grenade into an AoE slow that applies Enfeeble, reducing Zed attack and movement speed. Couple this with the Confusion Dart Attachment, and suddenly the Zeds barely know where to go and will have a hard time landing even a single hit on the player.

There are also a few more passive options like Strength In Numbers, which grants a damage buff to allies within the Gadget's area, and Steroid Injection, which grants a flat damage reduction buff to the Medic player while they are standing near a player or trader pod. These extra tools turn the Medic into more of a generalist who can heal teammates and grant them powerful buffs that can turn the tide of a fight in a matter of seconds.

Value In All Categories

Key Skills:

  • Chemical Reaction
  • Pulmonologist

Key Mods:

  • Ammo Types

When all else fails, sometimes mixing and matching can be the best way forward, and the Medic easily has some of the most flexible options when it comes to speccing into several different playstyles. Combining skills such as Chemical Reaction with others like Pulmonologist allows the player to not only deal plenty of damage, but also remain a solid supportive character for the squad to rely on for heals.

Also, when it comes to overall weapon strength, Ammo Types are always going to perform no matter if the player is a low-level Medic or a maxed-out Commando, as being able to target specific weaknesses can drastically improve the player's power without sacrificing any of their existing abilities. Overall, flexibility is a fine way to play the class, and it can be especially useful when playing with a wide range of classes where specific strengths aren't as necessary.
