Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be shown at a Czech film festival next month in the form of Warhorse's new "Cinematic Cut" of the game's cutscenes. One of 2025's biggest RPGs, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 released earlier in the year to immense critical acclaim, vastly outselling the 2018 original in a matter of weeks. The RPG epic sits at an 89 on OpenCritic and is currently a top contender for Game of the Year.
The last few years have seen an explosion of video game IP showing up big in the world of TV and movies. HBO's The Last of Us series continues to generate buzz online, Fallout fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Season 2, and the Minecraft movie became a phenomenon when it released in April, even surpassing the box office opening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023. Smaller projects have also been making waves in the film industry as well. Grand Theft Hamlet, which secured a prestigious MUBI release, is a rendition of the famous Shakespeare play performed within the world of Grand Theft Auto Online.
Warhorse Studios Update Paints a Bright Future for Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 developer Warhorse Studios announces plans to open a new studio in preparation for future projects.
Warhorse Studios seems to be the latest game studio ready to take a crack at the world of TV and cinema, this time using its critically acclaimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. On Twitter, Warhorse announced that it has created a "Cinematic Cut" of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that will be shown at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on July 9. Neither the tweet nor the corresponding post on KVIFF's official website includes any additional information about this Cinematic Cut of KCD2.
Cinematic Cut of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to Premiere at Czech Film Festival
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is loaded with hours upon hours of narrative cutscenes, so it's likely that Warhorse needed to cut down the Cinematic Cut quite significantly for the festival. The final runtime of the Cinematic Cut could end up being anywhere from 90 minutes to over three hours, though with how much rich storytelling is packed into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's main storyline, it's likely to end up closer to the three-hour mark.
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival does have its own streaming service named KVIFF.TV, which will be home to a livestream of the festival's events. Additionally, most of the festival's films are set to be added to the service afterward. The bad news is that it's only available in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 fans hoping to catch the Cinematic Cut might be able to register for KVIFF.TV with a Czech IP address as a workaround. Whether Warhorse puts its KCD2 Cinematic Cut up for viewing anywhere else, like perhaps its YouTube channel, will remain to be seen for the time being.
