Summary

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore mode is giving players a hard time, especially because of negative perks like Somnambulant.
  • Players are struggling with hunger, sleep deprivation, and random sleepwalking in Hardcore mode.
  • One player jokingly admitted, “I’m honestly scared to go to sleep.”

Warhorse Studios added a new Hardcore mode to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a few days ago, and players are already having a bad time with the mode’s negative perks, with one even admitting they are “scared to go to sleep.” Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore mode was a highly anticipated feature that players had been asking for since the game's release, and although the mode delivered on what it promised—a hardcore experience—players have found that it is quite painful to play.

Serving as a sequel to the first medieval RPG released in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 came out on February 4, continuing the story of Henry during 15th-century Bohemia. The sequel not only expanded the world with two regions, but it also made some improvements to the combat system, doubling down on the immersive first-person melee battles fans liked from the first game. The title was an immediate massive success upon release, selling over one million copies on launch day, surpassing the first game, which had taken nine days to reach that number. Warhorse Studios promised it would deliver new content and features in post-launch updates, and now that the new Hardcore mode has just been released, players are sharing their first impressions of it.

Following Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s major new update, players have been trying the new Hardcore mode, only to discover it is exactly what it promised to be: painful. A player known as Kptkromosome took to Reddit to share with the community how challenging it is to play the mode, admitting that their character is a wreck, suffering from hunger, sleep deprivation, and grappling with assaults from wolves and bandits. “I had to sleep in an owned bed because I was so tired,” they wrote.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Player Is 'Scared to Go to Sleep' in Hardcore Mode

One of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Hardcore mode negative perks that seems to be giving players a hard time is Somnambulant, which basically makes Henry lose restedness by 40%, while also adding a chance that the character will sleepwalk, taking players to some random location. One player said this perk is really annoying, as Henry would sleepwalk almost 50% of the time. This is especially frustrating if they have something important they need to do where they are, admitting, “I’m honestly scared to go to sleep.”

There are plenty of differences between Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Normal and Hardcore modes, but players have found that it is more about adding inconveniences than actual difficulty. Nevertheless, while some feel frustrated about it, others are having fun with it despite the struggle.
