Despite the excellent titles that have come after it, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has still had a significant impact on 2025, and it continues to reinforce that impact with DLCs like Brushes With Death and its upcoming Legacy of the Forge expansion expected to launch in the coming months. This means more story, more content, and more time with Henry of Skalitz in medieval Bohemia, and if Brushes With Death has proven anything, it's that Legacy of the Forge won't hold back when it comes to worthwhile gameplay additions.

Whereas Brushes With Death added things like a new story, a new shield-painting system, and horse racing to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Legacy of the Forge will see players rebuilding the ruined Kuttenberg forge from the ground up. Not much else is known about how this will translate from a gameplay perspective, nor what else might accompany it, but a leak tied to Legacy of the Forge seems to suggest it will go far deeper than the story. It could even bring a highly requested feature to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 once and for all.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Forge DLC Could Introduce a Major RPG Staple

A Hidden Feature May Be Smelting Beneath the Surface

Earlier this year, curious fans discovered Legacy of the Forge within Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's files, but rather than sharing a name with the DLC, it is labeled "ForgeTycoon." This alone implies that the forge players rebuild in Legacy of the Forge will be fully customizable and may even function like a shopkeeping simulator. Even more than that, however, is the possibility that this could also introduce a player housing feature to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that allows players to own a home they can also customize to their liking. Those are just assumptions, but there is far more where that came from.

Whereas Brushes With Death added things like a new story, a new shield-painting system, and horse racing to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Legacy of the Forge will see players rebuilding the ruined Kuttenberg forge from the ground up.

In a popular YouTube short by Franky Boy, the creator mentioned an interview they had with Warhorse Studios global PR manager Tobias "Toby" Stolz-Zwilling. During the interview, Franky Boy made a comment to Stolz-Zwilling that the Legacy of the Forge DLC would be the perfect setup for a player housing feature of some kind, to which he agreed. While Stolz-Zwilling didn't confirm nor deny that a housing feature would be added to the game with the Legacy of the Forge DLC, this is yet another piece of evidence that very well may be the case.

Why Housing Would Feel Right at Home in Bohemia

Again, it hasn't been outright confirmed by Warhorse whether player housing will indeed be added with the upcoming DLC, but it would arguably feel right at home in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's historical recreation of medieval Bohemia. Whereas many modern RPGs rely on flashy mechanics and stories about powerful heroes, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 prides itself on realism and immersion — two traits that would fit a housing feature perfectly. Whether it's crafting weapons at the forge, storing loot, or even just decorating a room with trophies, giving players a customizable home in the game would make the game feel all the more authentic.

Players could even craft or buy furniture for their home, and potentially upgrade it to become more elaborate the more they spend on it.

If the leak turns out to be true, Legacy of the Forge could give players a place to settle that isn't a tavern and instead feels like a real home. That idea fits right in with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's emphasis on realism, progression, and role-playing, and it wouldn't need to be over-the-top for it to add value to the game. Whether it's a modest home with some functional upgrades or a full-blown workshop tied to the forge, the potential is there for something that makes revisiting the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 all the more worth it.
