The main draw behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC is the ability to upgrade and customize Henry's forge. His forge is split into three sections: the house, the garden, and Henry's chambers, each with many different elements to customize. Some of these forge upgrades are merely cosmetic, while others provide buffs, services, or unlock further upgrades. To acquire the best forge upgrades in KCD2, Henry will need Groschen, but will also need to increase his Prestige.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Blacksmithing Guide
This guide on blacksmithing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will teach players how to use the forge, where to get started, and what is required.
Once players purchase an upgrade, they will own it permanently. If they decide to swap it out for something else, they will always be able to swap back for free.
Upgrades That Unlock Other Upgrades
There are a few repairs and upgrades to the house that Henry will need to make before a few other upgrades become available.
Ruined Upper Floor (Upper Floor Log Walls)
- Required Prestige: 3
- Groschen: 1260
- Effects: Helps restore the forge, eventually allowing interior and exterior decoration.
There are many options for the Upper Floor Walls, which are initially in ruins. The cheapest of these is Log Walls, with the choice of a clay or sandstone finish. This upgrade also allows the walls in Henry's chambers to be decorated. For some of the locked upgrades, players will also need to repair the Ground Floor Walls.
Damaged Ground Floor (Ground Floor Limestone)
- Required Prestige: 3
- Groschen: 1020
- Effects: Helps restore the forge, eventually allowing exterior decoration
To unlock painted walls, painted windows, fancy murals, and statues or plants, players will need to repair the Ground Floor as well as the Upper Floor, and potentially the Roof too. The cheapest upgrade is the Ground Floor Limestone, but eventually players might prefer other cosmetic options.
Upgrades To Increase Prestige Gains
As players will need to level up Henry's Prestige in Legacy of the Forge to be able to unlock certain upgrades, it makes sense to get the two that boost Prestige gains.
Circular Chandelier
- Prestige Required: 8
- Groschen: 360
- Effect: Permanently adds a 10% gain to Prestige, while also increasing reading quality.
Rustic Stove
- Prestige Required: 10
- Groschen: 460
- Effect: Permanently adds a 10% gain to Prestige, while also increasing sleep quality.
Best Chamber Upgrades In Legacy Of The Forge For KCD2
While there are plenty of decorations and cosmetic options for Henry's chambers, there are also some super helpful features and buffs to unlock.
Refer above for the Chandelier and Stove, which are easily among the best upgrades for Henry's chambers.
Any Cheap Bed Upgrade
- Required Prestige: 2
- Groschen: 100
- Effects: All different
For just 100 or 180 Groschen, it's a no-brainer to get one of the bed upgrades at level 2 or 4 Prestige. This first tier of bed means that Henry can pass out from being drunk without waking up elsewhere, while the Robber's bed helps Henry restore Reputation.
Food Shelf
- Required Prestige: 5
- Groschen: 70
- Effects: Provides a few items of food.
For just 70 Groschen, Henry's nighttime and morning cravings become a lot simpler. With this upgrade, replacing the Pile of Crates, Henry will no longer be hungry all the time.
Lent Table
- Required Prestige: 5
- Groschen: 210
- Effects: Eating fruit or veg restores 10 health, once every 12 hours.
There are many tables to choose from, but the Lent table, with two cosmetic options, is great for the price and available at low Prestige levels. Being able to heal in such an easy way is great, especially if players swap the Pile of Crates out for a Food Shelf, as this comes with an apple and other food.
Wine Barrel
- Required Prestige: 6
- Groschen: 280
- Effects: Drink wine for free from this barrel.
Players will likely be used to drinking from wine barrels in KCD2, but now they don't have to venture out, as they will always have free wine available. At level 10 Prestige, players with the Fundamentals of Theology Perk may wish to swap this out for a Kneeler, where they can pray each morning to gain the buff.
Alchemist's Cabinet
- Required Prestige: 7
- Groschen: 450
- Effects: Gradually repairs all clothing except combat gear and boots.
For just 450 Groschen, players can get infinite clothing repairs. At higher levels of Prestige, players can get better cabinets to make repairs apply to more clothing. Cabinets replace the Old Crates in the back right corner.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Differences Between Normal & Hardcore Mode
Want a tougher experience in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2? Here are all the major differences between normal and hardcore mode in KCD2.
Best Garden Upgrades In Legacy Of The Forge For KCD2
The garden upgrades essentially turn the place into a mini-base for Henry, with quality-of-life amenities that mean players won't have to visit lots of different places, such as the bathhouse, every day.
Washing Tub (Leaky Tub)
- Required Prestige: 4
- Groschen: 240
- Effects: A place for laundry
Early on, players can get a Washing Tub for just 240 Groschen if they don't fancy going across the street to the pond to wash clothes. While not necessary, it is cheap.
Smokehouse With Seating (Broken Cart)
- Required Prestige: 7
- Groschen: 340
- Effects: Adds a smokehouse for preserving food and a dice table.
Having a smokehouse nearby is great for those who like to hunt in KCD2, as they can preserve meat. The seating also includes a dice table, so that Henry can sometimes play with those who live at his forge.
Wooden Bee Hives (Wooden Scraps)
- Required Prestige: 8
- Groschen: 350
- Effects: A source of honey.
Honey is great in KCD2, as it never goes off, and each day, Henry can collect more, not having to worry as much about staving off hunger.
Armorer's Shelter (Ruined Workshop)
- Required Prestige: 8
- Groschen: 2200
- Effects: Hire an armorer to complete sketches and trade with.
Especially if players invite Standa the Fly to live with them, the Armorer's Shelter is easily one of the best upgrades. They will be able to trade with Standa and have him repair things, but more importantly, he can complete new armor sketches, which Henry finds.
Alchemist's Cabin (Remains Of Wall)
- Required Prestige: 8
- Groschen: 750
- Effects: Adds a repair bench and an alchemy table.
If players are really into alchemy in KCD2 and don't want to travel to the nearest alchemy table, this is a no-brainer. The repair bench is also incredibly useful for all players.
Foundryman's Shelter (Ruined Shed)
- Required Prestige: 9
- Groschen: 2200
- Effects: Hire a foundryman to complete sketches and trade with.
A foundryman can craft some unique weapons and will also trade rare materials, which Henry might need for his own crafting.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - How Does The Kuttenberg Tournament Work?
There is a weekly Kuttenberg tournament in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but how does it work?
Stables (Neglected Garden)
- Required Prestige: 13
- Groschen: 1200
- Effects: Henry can clean his horse here.
There are two stables available, one with a cowshed and one with a pigsty. Players can go with whichever they prefer, but the stables allow Henry to clean his horse here, rather than having to seek out a groom and pay.
Dry Cellar
- Required Prestige: 15
- Groschen: 950
- Effects: Grants a source of wine, beer, and sausages.
This source of food and drink is definitely an upgrade to aim for. While it is expensive, it makes keeping Henry fed and happy much easier.
