Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Casper Location And How To Beat Him

If you need help taking down Casper in KCD2, this guide can help.

For those struggling, here's a rundown on what players should do to help Henry find the precious Dragon Bones, how to sort out the challenge of knowing who should keep these precious items, and how to defeat the bounty hunters looking for them.

How To Start Dragon's Lair In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

To start the search for the Dragon Bones in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players need to travel to Bylany, which is southeast of Miscowitz. If players stuck around while completing The Thunderstone, they could probably drop in Bylany and talk to Monk Slava to start this quest.

Henry can find Monk Slava near the church in Bylany, since he spends his days mostly receiving visitors at the entrance or sitting under the big tree in the garden. Once they talk to him, this will trigger a conversation that will lead to him asking for Henry's discretion in delivering a message to Abbot Jan III, who is located in Sedletz Monastery (north of Kuttenberg).

Necessary Evil Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Necessary Evil Walkthrough

Necessary Evil is a complicated quest with touch choices in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, so here's a complete walkthrough.

Inquiring about this quest will reveal that a local woodsman named Vashek has found what seems to be the skeleton of a Dragon, a foul creature that needs to be completely destroyed so that their evil doesn't spread among the poor villagers, who have started to panic around the discovery. The Monk also states that rumors of the dragon bones are spreading like wildfire, so players should hurry and deliver the message as fast as possible.

Travel to Sedletz Monastery, and Henry will find Abbot Jan III conversing with his friend Gerhard, who seems to be part of the church but less conservative about what to do with the so-called dragon bones. Most importantly, players should remember to bring a shovel.

Should Players Side With Abbot Jan III Or Gerhard In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?

As players deliver the message to Abbot Jan III, he will ask them to find these dragon bones and destroy them by taking them to Monk Slava. This must be done with the utmost discretion as possible; the villagers are panicking, and this could put them at risk in these difficult times. Players should accept this new task and be on their way back to Bylany to talk to Monk Slava.

Before they can set on their journey, however, they will be accompanied by Gerhard and offered an alternative proposition: to side with him and deliver the dragon bones to him instead. If players agree to this, they will obviously risk losing their reputation with Monk Slava and risk the rage of Abbot Jan III (with unforeseen consequences), but there are several ways in which this quest can be completed. So, next, we will address all the possible outcomes and how to find the Dragon Bones for the Dragon's Lair quest.

If players reject Gerhard's proposal, he will be sending more folks to recover the bones, which consist of a crew of Mercenaries. If players want to avoid fighting them, they should side with him. On the other hand, if players take too long to travel back and find the dragon bones, they could end up failing the quest, as someone else is looking for them and could get a head start. So, be fast, and head straight to Bylany. Players are advised to check the location below and head straight to the bones after speaking to Vaschek.

How To Find Woodcutter Vashek In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

To complete Dragon's Lair in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, players need to travel back to Bylany and talk to Monk Slava to ask for further instructions. He will tell them to find the actual witness of the dragon bones, Woodcutter Vasheck, who spends most of his days in the local Tavern, narrating the tale of how he encountered the beast's skeleton. But before that, a cutscene will trigger, and a band of unsavory fellows led by Alchemist Leopold will appear, cutting Henry from leaving Slava, and express their interest in these 'dragon bones' and their whereabouts.

Players can, of course, tell them to 'go pick some Nettle' or intimidate them to prevent further inquiry. Be it as it may, they will be tracking down the dragon bones as well, so Henry should hurry up and find the exact location of the bones in order to reach them on time and pick them up.

If players decide not to get involved, Leopold and his goons might kill Slava, so be careful with this and stand up for him.

After that, go to the tavern and look for a fellow covered in blood and with a Straw Hat. Vaschek can either be persuaded with a Hard Check or bought with money. Either way, he will reveal the approximate location of the dragon bones, which is the next location players should visit.

At this point, if players have spent too much time waiting around or traveling before heading back to Bylany and to Vasheck, they will still be able to track the location of the bones, but upon arriving there, they will find the place picked clean, and the quest will fail.

Where To Find The Dragon Bones In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The Dragon Bones can be found on the southeastern side of the map, following the river that forks into a creek and then its upper branch that leads north. The exact location is depicted in the images above, and reaching it will be impossible by fast travel, so it is highly recommended that players pick up their horses and start galloping as fast as possible.

To locate the exact spot, reach the end of the river and find a place with several white rock formations. One of them has a clear fossil fern pattern, indicating that this place is not a Dragon's Lair; it's a fossil deposit. Look to the right side of the rock formation to find the exact spot where you need to dig (it's a couple of white bones on the floor next to some rocks).

Now, dig the bones out and prepare for a series of cutscenes and a tough fight depending on the outcome players choose.

All Possible Dragon's Lair Outcomes In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The Dragon's Lair quest features many possible outcomes, starting from the moment players find the bones. But there's an alternate outcome that has already been mentioned, involving players failing to reach the dragon bones on time and failing the quest since the other interested parties will be grabbing them and fleeing before Henry even has a chance to dig them out.

But after digging out the bones, a cutscene will be triggered, and Henry will have to face Leopold, his crew and a third party - a group of mercenaries sent by Gerhard (if players rejected his proposal or took too much time in getting back to him). Here's every possible outcome of this encounter:

  • Henry can side with Leopold against the Mercenaries, but he will be betrayed after the battle, and they will try to kill him. This choice is not advised, since Leopold is greedy and will double-cross Henry the second the mercenaries fall. Thankfully, players can still win the fight if they play their cards right. This could be a good way to eliminate both adversaries and get the bones for themselves.
  • Henry can side with the Mercenaries and fight Leopold. After the fight, the Mercenaries will be a little bit more reasonable and are willing to let Henry take one bone to Monk Slava for destruction. But it will take a little convincing to sort it out. If players fail, they will be attacked, and they'll have to fight the surviving mercenaries. Even if they manage to bring one bone back, Slava will tell Henry that the mission has failed since someone has grabbed the bones, and the evil will spread.
  • Henry could use diplomacy to convince both parties to sort it out. This can be done by passing Moderate difficulty checks or even after failing the checks and briefly fighting (since another cutscene will pop out, and Henry will stop the fight, trying to prevent further bloodshed). This diplomatic option will also end with Henry taking one of the bones to Slava and failing the quest, or he can go and rush back to Gerhard to try and deliver the bone to him and complete Dragon's Lair.
  • Henry can beat everyone and commit mass murder to keep all the bones. Though this is the hardest option, it will also be the 'right one,' offering a way to satisfy the Abbot, Monk Slava, and Gerhard all at the same time. After the second cutscene pops during the fight against the three bands, Henry can simply say, 'Now, we finish this,' and Leopold will scream, 'He's a madman!' If players manage to pull this out and beat the mercenaries, Leopold, and his goons, they can keep all the dragon bones, which will consist of four different pieces.

Also, it is important to mention that Alchemist Leopold carries the best Coat with the highest Armor grade in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. It's called Lord's Overcoat, and so far, this seems like the only possible way to get it. Players should carefully consider killing Leopold, since there's nothing to lose and everything to gain. This piece of Equipment offers the best possible protection, boasting 22 Blunt Defense, 11 Slash Defense, and 3 Piercing Defense.

Lord's Overcoat Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

After this tough fight or diplomacy attempt, Henry can return to either Slava or Gerhard with whatever bones he has. If players managed to keep all the bones (or at least two of them), they could convince Slava that these were all the bones by lying to him. Then, go back to Gerhard and also sell the bones to him for a juicy amount of Groschen, successfully completing Dragon's Lair.

Another option would be to deliver three bones to Slava, then run with the remaining fourth to Gerhard for the reward. Players should pick the option that says: "I have all the bones. (Lie and give only a portion)," but this will require them to pass a Hard Speech Check. Giving one bone to Slava and three to Gerhard will also result in a 'good outcome,' at least for Henry, but players should be careful not to fail the Speech check. Otherwise, they will lose a huge amount of reputation with Slava.

Destroying all four bones will result in a massive boost to reputation all across Kuttenberg and the approval of both Monk Slava and Abbot Jan III, which can come in handy during later stages of the game.

Also, be advised that stealing the Bones back from Monk Slava will not be possible, since they will not be available for pickpocketing (unlike other quest items like the Rikonari's Sabre).
