Drinking and drunkenness are surprisingly detailed mechanics in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. They have a slew of benefits and disadvantages, and if you find yourself drinking way too much on one occasion, you can expect Henry to get a massive hangover.

Hangovers are pretty easy to deal with, and much like in real life, they're also quite annoying. In-game, hangovers will bite a good chunk of your stats off and make things like fighting in KCD2 harder, so you'll want to avoid having them at all costs. Thankfully, you can get rid of this status effect with either patience or a bit of effort.

How to Get Rid of Hangovers in KCD2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hungover Henry

If you end up drinking one too many tankards of beer for a night, you'll find yourself suffering from a hangover the next morning. Your stats will take a hit, and your screen will be blurry until the effect wears out. To cure a hangover, either wait it out or drink a Hair o' the Dog concoction.

An icon representing the Hangover status effect will appear on the left side of your health bar once you're afflicted with it, giving you a rough estimate of how much longer you'll need to put up with being hungover. You can pass the time in KCD2 to make the hangover go away, but if you don't have any time to spare, you'll need to drink a potion.

You can be drunk and hungover at the same time, though they can both be cured using the same remedies.

Hair o' the Dog Potion Recipe

The Player Grinding An Herb With The Mortar & Pestle

This concoction is specifically meant for helping with drunkenness and hangovers. You can buy the Recipe for Hair O' The Dog from the apothecary in Troskowitz. To brew one, go to any alchemy station and follow this procedure:

  1. Pour Water.
  2. Add 1 Sage and 1 St. John's Wort to the cauldron.
  3. Boil for 3 turns.
  4. Grind 1 Mint and add it to the cauldron.
  5. Pour the potion into a phial.

The potion's quality will depend on how well you brewed it. Poor-quality Hair o' the Dog will remove drunkenness, but not hangovers. You need a regular-quality Hair o' the Dog for a chance to cure hangovers, while a Strong-quality one will get rid of both hangovers and drunkenness together.

Alternatively, you can brew a Marigold Decoction using the following recipe:

  1. Add Water to the cauldron.
  2. Add 1 Nettle.
  3. Boil for 2 turns.
  4. Grind 2 Marigold and add it to the cauldron.
  5. Pour the potion into a phial.

This won't immediately get rid of your hangover, but it'll make it pass 100% faster. It'll heal you for 25 health over one minute too.

The Nightcap Perk in KCD2
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Nightcap perk

There's an entire perk line dedicated to Henry's ability to drink, but there's only one perk that's related to hangovers: Nightcap. This prevents you from getting a hangover when you wake up after a round of drinks. It'll also make all beds 10% more comfortable for you if you're drunk, which is great once you get the free one from the Lackey quest. That means you regenerate Energy and Health faster than normal.

Nightcap is a useful skill to have if you plan on turning Henry into an alcoholic, but for everyone else, it's better to just wait those hangovers out.
