The search for the Mad Stonemason’s treasure in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 takes players to the crumbling ruins near Trosky Castle. It’s a fantastic find, especially for those early in the game who are struggling to gather enough Groschen to upgrade their gear, buy supplies, or survive the harsh world of medieval Bohemia. Unlike other treasures in the game, no official map or obvious quest marker leads players to this hidden stash.

This guide will walk players through the process of tracking down the Mad Stonemason’s treasure in KCD2, providing both a step-by-step path and an exploration of the story associated with it. Whether players are seeking a quick boost in funds or simply want to uncover every secret the world has to offer, finding the Mad Stonemason’s treasure is well worth the effort.

How to Find the Mad Stonemason in KCD2

Players will most likely encounter the first hints of the treasure while exploring around Trosky Castle. Just south of the main gates, near an archery range, players will find an NPC named Bohumir practicing his shots. Striking up a conversation with Bohumir opens the door to the treasure hunt. To learn more, players should be sure to select the following dialogue options:

  • "This used to be a quarry?"
  • "What loony?"

Bohumir explains that the Mad Stonemason regularly scours the area, searching for a hidden stash of coins believed to belong to a former coworker who died. Though Bohumir dismisses him as little more than a local oddity, he inadvertently provides valuable information that points players in the right direction.

Where is the Mad Stonemason?

Curious players can visit the Mad Stonemason himself. His hut is located just a short distance south of the archery range. However, speaking with him doesn’t yield much. As a result, players are left to figure out the treasure’s location on their own. Use the video below to find the Mad Stonemason's Treasure in KCD2:

Finding the treasure requires a bit of climbing and exploration. Behind the three archery targets lies a cliffside path marked by two old wooden ladders. Climbing these ladders takes players up the rocky face of the hill and onto a trail that winds around the cliff.

At the top, players should head left and cross a makeshift bridge made from a fallen log. On the other side, they’ll spot a curious sight: a lone watermelon resting on the edge of a board. It’s more than just a strange landmark. Behind the watermelon, players can find a cluster of stones and trees. When close enough, an "Explore the stones" prompt will appear. Interacting with it uncovers the Mad Stonemason’s treasure: a generous stash of 549 Groschen. This hidden fortune can be claimed immediately, and players can choose what to do with it. There are plenty of merchants around Trosky to spend coins at.

The treasure cache resets after a few days, allowing players to return and claim another payout if they wish.

Players also have the option to bring the coins back to the Mad Stonemason if they feel charitable. However, there are no major consequences, moral or otherwise, for keeping the treasure for themselves. In a world as unforgiving as Bohemia in KCD2, a little extra Groschen can go a long way.
