Alchemy is a major mechanic in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, having the player personally complete every step in brewing a potion before you can eventually use it. Brewing potions, of course, requires recipes, as the steps to making a potion are exact and need to be followed to get any quality of that potion.

You don't need to personally buy a recipe for Henry to be able to brew it in-game. If you're able to guess, remember, or even look up a recipe, it can be made as long as the steps are followed. That being said, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a game about immersion, and to keep yourself steeped in the world, you'll need to get your own recipes; here's how.

Where To Get Potion Recipes In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

You'll get the first recipe for Chamomile Brew during the prologue of the game, followed by Saviour Schnapps which will appear in your inventory after completing the prologue. From there, you can either find or buy new recipes. Some recipes can be found in chests throughout the world, though that's not an ideal way of getting more so your best bet will almost always be buying them.

Saviour Schnapps are needed to freely save the game so it's best to master how to brew them.

Recipes can be purchased from Apothecaries and Herbalists. The first Apothecary in the game is actually found in Troskowitz, with his shop being just southwest of the town square. After that, you'll have to head north of Trosky Castle to find Herbalist Barnaby who sells more recipes. While those are good starting points, their recipe stock won't cycle, so you'll need to progress the game to find other recipes.

Finding & Managing Potion Materials In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The majority of all alchemy ingredients will be herbs and flowers found throughout the world. To make high-quality potions, you'll need to use freshly picked herbs, as their condition will also affect the quality of the potion you make. It's best to know what recipe(s) you want to brew and go gather the materials right then to immediately brew afterward.

You can dry herbs and flowers to make their conditions deteriorate much slower, but this will usually lock you out of brewing high-quality potions. You can also choose to buy the specific herbs you want from the same vendor you purchased the recipes from as they will usually have the ingredients needed for all the recipes they are selling.
