One of the most anticipated gaming experiences of 2025 is, without a doubt, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC, which looks to expand on the base game in many more ways than just narrative alone. For some time now, it has been speculated that Legacy of the Forge would not only have an emotional narrative and a focus on blacksmithing, but that it would also potentially see players rebuilding more than just a forge, and even possibly grant Henry a home through it all. Now that the DLC has finally been revealed and its September 9 release date firmly planted in place, it looks like some or all of those dreams are finally coming true.
Apart from its rather brief announcement trailer, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC has yet to receive any sort of deep dive from developer Warhorse Studios, but that may change in the coming week or two. Even so, the trailer does offer further proof of the speculations that have swirled around the DLC ahead of its reveal, and it looks like this expansion might be stacked with plenty of things for players to do.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC Looks Stacked
Rebuilding the Guild Quarter and Henry's Legacy
Until now, all that has been known about Legacy of the Forge's story is that Henry would be rebuilding the forge of his adoptive father, Martin. However, the DLC's trailer shows Henry getting inducted into the Blacksmiths Guild under the title of "new owner of Kuttenberg's old forge," offering more specifics about what might take place during the expansion's story. It has also been confirmed that players will be designing the forge as well as its surroundings, as originally expected.
Given the fact that Henry is joining the Blacksmiths Guild in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC, this decrepit part of town could very well be a Blacksmiths Guild Quarter, and with Henry most likely inheriting ownership of the forge due to his relationship with its previous owner, he may end up in a leadership position of sorts in seeing the quarter restored. At the very least, players will likely get a deeper look at Martin's legacy as a blacksmith, and may be treated to an emotionally charged narrative as a result.
Activities, Housing, and New Ways to Earn
With the restoration of what may very well be the Blacksmiths Guild Quarter, players will also finally be given a permanent home for Henry, meaning they won't need to find a bed in a nearby tavern if they need to lie down for a bit. What's more, however, is that there is a mini-game in Legacy of the Forge that sees players positioning furniture in a room using a customization system with over 100 million combinations. Players will also be able to personalize the forge's surroundings as well, which is the kind of customization that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's cozy side has needed for quite some time.
Finally, theories have floated around about whether players would be given a chance to earn more income in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC, and Warhorse Studios communications director Tobias "Tobi" Stolz-Zwilling confirmed in a passing remark on X that the DLC would have many "new activities." It could be that this includes the rebuilding of the forge, but assuming that is tied to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's blacksmithing, it's curious that Tobi also said that "blacksmithing is not the main part of this DLC" in a reply in the same thread. The official website for Legacy of the Forge does say that "Henry will unlock the ability to earn cash," but it seems likely that players can expect even more activities beyond just the forge and the Blacksmiths Guild.
What's clear is that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's Legacy of the Forge DLC won't be a narrow, single-feature add-on. With story, housing, and community rebuilding, as well as the potential for plenty of activities outside blacksmithing, the expansion looks packed with content. With September 9 now set for Legacy of the Forge, the only question left is how far this expansion will go in reshaping Henry's role in Kuttenberg.
