The Legacy of the Forge DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 allows Henry to become a blacksmith and a fully accepted resident of Kuttenberg. Once set up, customers will turn up each day with commissions or strange requests. Eventually, a man named Horst of Lishkov will turn up offering Henry the sword of King Arthur, Excalibur. Is this a scam or an opportunity to get one of the best swords in KCD2?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Best Armor
This guide will provide players with the best options for each layer of armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Should You Buy Excalibur In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
After passing the guild's trial at the start of Legacy of the Forge and settling into his new home, Henry will have customers turn up each day. Most of the time, his fellow citizens of Kuttenberg request swords to be forged, but eventually, a man named Horst of Lishkov will come knocking.
He claims to possess Excalibur, the sword of King Arthur, from the distant land of Albion. He offers Henry this sword for 600 Groschen. This price cannot be haggled, and players do not get the opportunity to look at the sword's stats or condition.
Naturally, alarm bells should be ringing.
Why You Shouldn't Buy Excalibur
For those who want to know, Excalibur is a scam. First of all, it is broken, meaning Henry will have to use the following materials to reforge it:
- 1x Cow Skin
- 3x Frankfurt Steel
- 2x Iron
- Broken Excalibur
Secondly, once forged, Henry is quick to realize it's not a good longsword. The completed sword's name is Fakescalibur, and its stats aren't great, even if it's forged perfectly, and Henry's Quality is achieved.
- Main Stat: 114
- Stab: 114
- Slash: 109
- Blunt: 22
- Defense: 168
When sold, players will likely get l ess than 500 Groschen.
Why You Should Buy Excalibur
However, while Excalibur is a scam, choosing to buy it does open up the opportunity to get a top-tier sword. Therefore, if players can a fford to lose a bit of time and money on Excalibur and another scam, their patience will eventually pay off. In the end, this small quest can lead to the Longsword of the Four Evangelists.
Importantly, Henry can also get his money back! Just go confront the vendor, who will own up to his mistake and hand over the 600 Groschen. Fakescalibur can also be sold, meaning a profit will be made overall.
How To Get The Longsword Of The Four Evangelists In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
To have a chance at getting the Longsword of the Four Evangelists, which is almost the best in the game, players will want to go and confront Horst of Lishkov at the Hole in the Wall tavern just down the road from Henry's forge.
He will give Henry his money back and tell him that he will return with another offer. Players will now need to wait a few days.
Go Through Another Scam - Durendal
When Horst returns, he will try to sell Henry a sword called Durendal. Despite it sounding dodgy, go along with it for another 600 Groschen. This will again require more blacksmith materials.
The result is Durendull, which is only slightly better than Fakescalibur.
When you confront Horst, make sure to say, "Alright, I'll take it." This will cause him to come back in a few days once more.
All Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 In the Service of the Guild Item Locations
In the Service of the Guild is a quest in KCD2's Legacy of the Forge DLC. It is split into four parts, with Henry having to find items each time.
Forging The Longsword Of The Four Evangelists
When Horst returns for the third time, the sketch he gives Henry is for the Longsword of the Four Evangelists. The following materials are required:
- 1x Weapon Stub
- 2x Frankfurt Steel
- 2x Iron
- 1x Acidum Chloridum
- 1x Enamel Powder
At this point, players will want to be careful, as this is the only chance they will get to forge the sword. To be one of the best swords in the game, it will need to be forged perfectly with Henry's Quality achieved. For this, the Craftsmanship Perk known as Martin's Secret is required.
The following can help boost Henry's Craftsmanship skill to increase his chances of forging the sword perfectly.
- Wear Henry's Blacksmith Apron and Gloves found in his chest, as these boost the stat.
- Use a Quickfinger Potion
- Get the Blacksmith's Bed as an upgrade for Henry's chambers, and sleep in it.
- Read Craftsmanship skill books to boost the skill.
Save the game before forging in case it doesn't meet the quality you desire. This is the only chance.
Longsword Of The Four Evangelists Stats
If players achieve Henry's Quality, the Longsword of the Four Evangelist in KCD2 will have the following stats once sharpened:
- Main Stat: 168
- Stab: 161
- Slash: 168
- Blunt: 32
- Defense: 235
- Durability: 180
- Min. Strength: 17
- Min. Agility: 17
The quest continues further, with Horst bringing Henry one more opportunity, but this sword is the highlight and makes the two scams worth all the fuss.
