Summary
- KCD 2 offers a range of mods adding historically accurate weapons.
- Mods like "Choose Your Own Bow Quiver" and "Ottoman Sabre" enhance gameplay.
- "Dragonborn Short Sword" and "Long Sword" mods add luxury weapons to the game.
Games taking place during scpecific periods of history have been a common form of the medium for a while. Popular periods in more modern history include the World Wars and Cold War, while other games take place during older parts of history, such as the Middle Ages or Ancient Egypt. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one such historical fiction game, taking place in the 1400s toward the end of the medieval period.
Of course, being a game set during the time, there are a range of weapons for players to use. However, this can always be expanded upon with the addition of mods. There are mods that add fantastical weapons that didn't belong to history, but others do indeed add weapons that were accurate to the era.
8 Best Dark Medieval Games
The Medieval era was notoriously bleak and dark, and while some games gloss over those more brutal aspects, these are not those games.
6 Choose Your Own Bow Quiver
Lets Players Decide The Quiver Of Their Bow
- Mod Author: Fatwalrus
- Mod Page Link
While Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 hosts a large range of melee weaponry, there are also various ranged weapons for players to use. Among the different ranged weapons, there are numerous bows available, which have quivers to hold arrows.
This mod lets players choose between the bow quivers already in the game to use. Using this mod will also change the quivers of NPCs, not just the player. Obviously, since the mod lets players choose from quivers already in the game, it conforms to the era, and is useful for matching certain quivers with armor colors for maximum style.
5 KCD1 Weapons Return
Returns Some Weapons From The First Game To The Second
- Mod Author: AcSiG
- Mod Page Link
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance have a connected plot, with the second game directly following the first. As a result, both games share a similar timeframe, making the weapons from the first game befitting of the era, and not out of place for them to be in the second game.
The KCD1 Weapons Return adds some of the weapons found in the first game into the second. Not every weapon has been returned, but over ten weapons are included in the mod. There is a decent selection: some swords, some sabers, and some axes, to name a few.
4 Ottoman Sabre
Adds A Kilij To The Game
- Mod Author: Ottolexiuss
- Mod Page Link
Obviously, historical eras aren't static to an individual area of the world. Places like Europe went through their own medieval developments, but so did other areas of the world, with their own empires and eras.
The Ottoman Sabre, named the kilij, comes from the Ottoman Empire. Existing around the same time that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 takes place, this mod adds the weapon that became associated with the aforementioned empire. Earlier versions of the saber did exist, and there is indeed a mod that adds such a weapon, with this mod including the more iconic blade. The mod adds variants of the weapon, with different versions being ornamented and possessing inlays. The mod also aims to make the weapon realistic with its stats and weight.
3 Zweihänder Sword
Adds An Iconic Sword To The Game
- Mod Author: Caseter6
- Mod Page Link
There have been a lot of swords made by human ingenuity across a range of different historical eras. Some iconic weapons include the ever-popular katana, or the cutlass. Of course, the Zweihänder is another bladed weapon that many people know of, being an icon of medieval weaponry.
The 10 Best Medieval Armors In Games
Considering how many games take inspiration from medieval settings, it's no surprise that some of them have pretty accurate medieval armor.
This mod adds a Zweihänder to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This weapon was found during the later medieval period, making it fit the game's timeframe. However, obtaining the weapon in the game might turn some people off. It can only be spawned via console commands, the specifics of which can be found on the modpage. The mod also comes with different stat variations, so players can customize and optimize how they want the sword to function.
2 Dragonborn Short Sword
Introduces A Luxury Short Sword
- Mod Author: MAJOR76
- Mod Page Link
Despite the name, this mod does not feature anything of the fantastical, nor does it have anything to do with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Dragonborn Short Sword mod adds a new weapon to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that aims to be a luxury weapon.
The short sword features engravings along it, with art on the cross-guard of the blade, and writing appearing lengthways down the fuller of the weapon. The mod doesn't say if it's meant to be inspired by any real weapon, but it looks like a common sword with some decorations, which would have been common among those higher in society.
1 Dragonborn Long Sword
Gives Players A Luxury Long Sword
- Mod Author: MAJOR76
- Mod Page Link
This mod adds a luxury long sword to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The name shares similarities with the Dragonborn Short Sword mod, and is part of the same collection. However, there are only two mods that add new weapons, as of now. The rest of the collection adds armor.
10 Best Medieval Games To Play After Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
The medieval titles are ideal game choices to play after Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
The Dragonborn Long Sword mod is similar to the short sword mod in that it adds a weapon that features luxury engravings. It looks the same as the short sword mod, but is made for those that prefer a long sword instead of a short sword. The sword can be obtained via another mod made to work together with the collection: the MAJOR MERCHANT mod, which adds a merchant where the weapon can be bought.
