Kingdom Hearts 4 is deep in development, but fans have been clamoring for some sort of update beyond screenshots of Sora's battle with the Heartless in Quadratum. Luckily, a recent leak seems to provide the sort of deep insight players have been wanting for some time (even if it should be taken with a grain of salt). If this leak proves to be true, then fans know what kind of worlds they'll be going to in Kingdom Hearts 4, and the world count might make up for the lack of locales explored in Kingdom Hearts 3.
How Kingdom Hearts 4's World Count Makes Up For Kingdom Hearts 3
Any Kingdom Hearts fan knows that the Disney worlds may be the cornerstone of KH, but they don't always tie deeply into the plot. Some have deeper resolutions and connections, but most are side adventures alongside memorable Disney characters like Rapunzel and Simba. Kingdom Hearts 3 was the end of "an arc" according to Square Enix. As a result, there were tons of character plot lines that had to be wrapped up in the game's climactic finale. It makes sense, then, that a more foundational title for the new arc like KH4 would focus on more worlds.

If the list proves to be true, then there might be a number of worlds that will prove controversial with players. The leaked Kingdom Hearts 4 worlds has a considerable amount of Pixar, though it does even out with the same number of Disney movies included alongside them. This includes the return of Hercules' Olympus, which might prove divisive in itself as this would be the sixth time it appeared in a Kingdom Hearts title. Star Wars might mark a shift into the larger Disney sphere some fans might not appreciate, and four worlds for Wreck-It Ralph may feel like too much for some.
According to the leak, Wreck-It Ralph has worlds for every one of its featured games: Fix-It Felix's Niceland, Hero's Duty's Cybug Sector, and Sugar Rush's Candy Kingdom. On top of that, Game Central Station has its own world.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Might Have Walked so Kingdom Hearts 4 Could Run
Despite the trend of KH worlds typically not lending themselves to the overall plot, Kingdom Hearts 3 marked a change in this formula. Olympus, Toy Story's Toy Box, and Monsters Inc's Monstropolis specifically let the original plot intersect with the stories from their respective movies. The use of more Pixar worlds might mean this trend is slowly changing, and Kingdom Hearts 4 might make worlds a bit more important to the main plot at large. Regardless, it's clear that there will be plenty of worlds to explore in the upcoming game if the leak turns out to be accurate.
Wreck-It Ralph's Game Central Station has been a world in Kingdom Hearts since Union X, which might give it more importance in the upcoming Lost Masters arc due to it being around when those particular plot threads were set in motion. Outside of that, Wreck-It Ralph's video game premise has made it one of the most requested KH worlds since it was first released in 2012. Even if it isn't too important to KH4's story, it's at least a checkmark that many fans will get to check off of their wishlists.
No matter what Disney properties make their way into Kingdom Hearts 4, it's undeniable that one of the big criticisms of Kingdom Hearts 3 was its small number of worlds. There might have been a reason behind KH3's total, but it makes sense for players to desire more worlds in the next game than the last. If this leak is anything to go by, then Square Enix and Disney have heard the fans loud and clear. For now, no matter how exciting or disappointing this leaked lineup might be, fans should take it with a grain of salt until there's solid confirmation. Still, love or hate the amount of Pixar and Wreck-It-Ralph content, world count wouldn't be an issue in this Kingdom Hearts entry.
