Thursday morning THQ Nordic confirmed leaks by officially announcing that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is being remastered. "Prepare for the Re-Reckoning!" Announced the game's revived Twitter account. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will feature "stunning visuals" as well as "refined gameplay" compared to the original 2012 game. Since then, more details about Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning have been shared, including the remaster's price as well as plans for a collector's edition.

Alongside the announcement of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, pre-orders for the game went live on online retailers. Amazon has profiles up for both the PS4 and PC versions of the game, as well as an Xbox One version of the game's Collector's Edition. The standard edition of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is currently retailing for $39.99, which is a relatively standard price for remasters released during the current generation.

As for the Collector's Edition, it's currently listed for a price of $109.99, and it's confirmed for all supported platforms. Inside of the collector's edition for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is a variety of trinkets. The biggest inclusion is a 21 cm tall collectible statue of Dokkalfir rogue Alyn Shir, who is an NPC in the game. It also includes the game's soundtrack, a keychain with the game's logo, and five postcard-sized pieces of artwork. The game is also confirmed to be included.

Nothing much else can be pulled from the retail listings. All of the original game's DLC is confirmed to be bundled in the remaster. That includes the original pre-order content, promotional content like a pair of daggers granted for playing Mass Effect 3, and the game's post-launch premium DLC. That includes the two DLC releases with new quests, The Legend of Dead Kel and Teeth of Naros.

A remaster of Kingdoms of Amalur has long been rumored. THQ Nordic acquired the Amalur property from the estate of the now-defunct 38 Studios in 2018. Given the recency of the acquisition, a remaster must have been put into production almost immediately afterward.

The big question that fans are now asking is whether or not THQ Nordic plans to continue the franchise. Obviously, the abandoned MMO Copernicus is likely to remain dead and buried. But THQ Nordic could instead create their own series of sequels. With the launch of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, Amalur is back. And so is its future.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. An August release date is rumored.
