During the September 2025 Nintendo Direct stream, a second Kirby Air Riders Direct presentation was teased, along with amiibo for the upcoming racing title. Set to hit the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 20, Kirby Air Riders is the long-awaited sequel to 2003's GameCube hit Kirby Air Ride, promising even more playable characters and unique abilities for players to use as they race to the finish line.
First announced during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct in April, Kirby Air Riders came out of left field, with countless fans of the character quickly taking to social media to celebrate. Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Kirby series, revealed soon after that the game had gone into pre-production in 2021, after work had concluded on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's downloadable content. Kirby Air Riders is being developed by Nintendo, HAL, Bandai Namco, and Sakurai's own Sora studio, and with only a few months to wait until the title's release, some exciting new developments were announced during a recent livestream.

Kirby Air Riders amiibo Revealed Along with Second Dedicated Nintendo Direct Presentation
Fans eager to learn more about Kirby Air Riders will soon get their chance to do so, as another dedicated Direct presentation has been teased, though no date has yet been announced. In August, a 45-minute livestream dedicated to the title showed off gameplay footage, new playable characters, and Kirby Air Rider's release date, and fans are now curious to see what the next Direct has in store. Additionally, during the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that amiibo would be released alongside the title on November 20. This includes a Kirby and Warp Star amiibo and a Bandana Waddle Dee and Winged Star amiibo. More updates will be shared in the future.
In July, Sakurai shared that Kirby Air Riders is "shaping up to be something great" on social media while also celebrating the anniversary of Kirby Air Ride's release on the Nintendo GameCube over two decades ago. At least 12 playable characters are slated to appear in the racing game, including Cappy, Knuckle Joe, King Dedede, Starman, and Waddle Doo. Several game modes will also be available, along with several courses featuring unique obstacles and landscapes.
The latest Nintendo Direct was a hit with fans, as it managed to cram in dozens of titles during its hour-long runtime. Perhaps the most exciting announcement was Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's release date of December 4, 2025, with a new trailer highlighting Samus Aran's Vi-O-La motorbike and the title's open world.
