Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a remake of the original game for the Nintendo Wii, released back in 2011. It's an overhaul, adding upgraded graphics, new animations, a complete switchup of the mini-games section, new Kirby Copy Abilities, and even a little extra content. Considering that this is a full-cost Switch title, some players who have completed the original might be wondering just how much more time they can expect to spend with Deluxe over the Wii version. But how long Deluxe takes to beat depends a lot on how much of the game players want to finish.
The Length of the Original Wii Version of Kirby's Return to Dreamland
Anyone who has played the original Wii version of Return to Dreamland knows there are about 6-10 hours of content in it. Whether players want to complete all the mini-games and collect all the energy spheres or not will change how many hours they spend playing this Kirby title.
For the most part, a first playthrough without being a completionist with it will take about 7 hours. Speed runs of 100% take about 2.5 hours. Fully completing it casually averages around 9-10 hours for most players. But how does this compare with the Switch remake: Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe?
How Deluxe Lines Up With the Original Kirby Returns to Dreamland
The new content doesn't seem to add a whole lot of hours over the original. On average, the new version of Kirby's Return to Dreamland will take new players around 7-8 hours to complete. This is a very casual playthrough, going through each of the levels once and playing through a few of the mini-games. However, if players are looking to do everything, including the new Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe sub-games, and have little experience with the original, they can easily spend 12 or more hours attempting to get everything they can out of it.
Overall, some players might not see the new Dreamland as a worthwhile purchase if they already own this one for the Wii. However, there is one thing added that might have even long-time Dreamland fans looking to pick up this new version: the Magalor Epilogue.
The Magalor Epilogue is a 1-2 hour addition that was not in the original game. Players can unlock it after completing the main storyline, and it is playable with up to four people. With four unique levels, a neat boss, and some new powers, this new Kirby content might be enough to pull in fans of the original version.
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is available for Nintendo Switch.
