Krafton has acquired Eleventh Hour Games, the developer behind the action RPG Last Epoch. The publisher has found itself in the middle of some controversy lately, thanks to an ongoing legal battle with Subnautica 2' s former leadership team. It seems the media whirlwind has not slowed its growth, though, as Krafton has a new studio under its corporate umbrella.
Eleventh Hour has enjoyed some considerable success after releasing its first title in 2024. Now, as Last Epoch gears up for its third season in August 2025, it has some even bigger news to share. The game and the studio that made it have grown enough to attract the attention of the publisher of such successful games as PUBG: Battlegrounds and Subnautica.
Subnautica 2's Krafton Controversy Explained
Krafton has come under fire for terminating the leadership team of Unknown Worlds, the developers of Subnautica 2, ahead of a $250 million payout.
Game Director and Eleventh Hour founder Judd Cobler posted on the official Last Epoch forum that Krafton had acquired the studio and its flagship game. Cobler expressed excitement over how Last Epoch had evolved from a solo passion project to a team of over 100 people and would now enjoy more resources and opportunities under the umbrella of a larger publisher. The positivity stands in stark contrast to much of the news around Krafton's other properties lately. Earlier in 2025, Subnautica 2's studio founders opened a lawsuit against Krafton following their sudden firing and a release delay for the upcoming game.
Krafton Has Acquired Last Epoch Developer Eleventh Hour Games
In the announcement, Cobler also noted that the acquisition means the Last Epoch team will expand. The exact details are still unclear, but the post says Eleventh Hour Games "will be hiring many roles" starting in the coming weeks and months, so it seems Krafton is bullish on bringing the game to new heights. This news may come as a sigh of relief to some fans, considering Krafton had previously laid off several Callisto Protocol developers, but on the other hand, the company is also responsible for saving Hi-Fi Rush studio Tango Gameworks after Microsoft planned to close it.
Despite the Subnautica and Callisto Protocol drama, Krafton does have an overall successful track record. Since its formation in 2018, Krafton has grown to be a $10 billion company and has laid out plans to expand its library of games throughout 2025 and beyond. Cobler's post claims the publisher shares Eleventh Hour's passion for action RPGs and reassures fans that the studio will continue to listen to and engage with the community. The future is still uncertain, but it could be big news for Last Epoch.
