La Quimera launches on April 25, Reburn has revealed. Its release date was shared alongside a new gameplay trailer and some other previously unconfirmed details about La Quimera, including its surprisingly low price.
La Quimera is the latest title from Metro developer Reburn, formerly known as 4A Games Ukraine. It was originally announced in late February with a two-minute reveal trailer, which mentioned nothing in the way of a release date or even a release window.
6 Influential FPS Games Worth Playing Just For Their Importance To The Genre
The FPS genre has evolved a lot since its inception. Here are the games that made first-person shooters into what they are today.
Following up on that move, Reburn has now committed to a firm release date for La Quimera: April 25. The studio also revealed that the game will retail for $29.99 / €29.99. This price tag might come across as somewhat surprising, especially given that everything shown of the sci-fi shooter so far has looked like a bona fide AAA game. It's possible that the budget price hints at the story-driven FPS having a modest length, though Reburn has yet to outright confirm this.
La Quimera Shares New Gameplay Trailer
La Quimera's release date was shared alongside the shooter's second-ever trailer, which is entirely dedicated to showcasing gameplay. The video teases several classic weapon types—assault rifles, handguns, shotguns, and SMGs—while suggesting that players will need to be combat-ready "at all times." The trailer also serves as a brief introduction to exosuit abilities, which players will be able to leverage to perform superhuman feats. This particular aspect of La Quimera seems somewhat reminiscent of Crysis, especially when combined with the game's tropical jungle setting.
La Quimera Beta Starting Soon, Signups Now Available
Ahead of the game's release, Reburn is holding a closed beta, which is planned to kick off this Saturday, April 12, at 7am PT / 10am ET / 4pm CET. The playtest will run for exactly 24 hours, with signups now being available on La Quimera's Steam page, where the game itself can already be wishlisted. Closed beta slots will be limited, Reburn said, albeit without elaborating on the matter.
Our work wouldn’t be possible without the bravery and sacrifice of those defending Ukraine, and we’re profoundly grateful for their strength and resilience.
Apart from solo play, La Quimera will also support co-op, with every mission being playable by up to three people. It's currently unclear whether Reburn is planning to accept pre-orders in the run-up to the game's April 25 release. Another unknown is the sci-fi shooter's list of target platforms, as La Quimera has so far only been confirmed for PC. "Our work wouldn’t be possible without the bravery and sacrifice of those defending Ukraine, and we’re profoundly grateful for their strength and resilience," said Reburn CEO and founder Dmytro Lymar in a prepared statement accompanying the game's release date announcement.
