Earning XP in Last Epoch is as easy as embarking on the first mission of the adventure, mowing down waves of enemies, taking on difficult dungeons, and more. As players build their XP and earn levels, their stats receive boosts, making them stronger and capable of enduring stronger attacks in the later stages. A proper build in Last Epoch can also make a difference, but there's no chance of survival if a player is under-leveled.
In this guide, players can learn more about what it takes to build XP, what the max level in Last Epoch is, and what it entails for the character. This guide will also cover what each level grants the player, and what it means for the passive skills of each class.
Last Epoch: How to Get Twitch Drops
With the full release of Last Epoch, Eleventh Hour Games is also dropping some Twitch bonuses. Here is a guide on how players can access Twitch drops.
Last Epoch: Max Level Explained
Whether players choose Sentinel, Lich, or any of the other classes included in Last Epoch, the current max level is 100. There is no penalty in the game for earning levels quickly, as the field enemies do not grow with the player. Fortunately, the character's passive skill tree grows much faster than the player's level, making the grind for the max level feel secondary compared to learning passive skills and unlocking additional character classes.
Depending on the player's skill level and knowledge of the game, it will take approximately 60–70 hours from the first boot-up of Last Epoch to level 100. Completion of the game is around 18–20 hours, leaving players with a heavy grind to reach max level and become the strongest they can be in the game. The quickest way to attain the max level during the end game is to re-run the most difficult dungeons as much as possible.
When a player reaches a new level, they can expect the following for their character:
- Health +5 and each Potion regains +1 Health per level.
- +1 Passive Skill point per level, after level 3.
- Specific skills and subclasses for each type of character.
- Slots for class specialized skills, at levels 4, 8, 20, 35, and 50.
Last Epoch: Best Sentinel Build
Here's what the strongest builds for the strength-based Sentinel class look like in Last Epoch.
Increasing Level Makes Passive Skills Stronger
After reaching level 3, players will begin to accumulate Skill Points. These can be redeemed in the Player Skill Tree, using one point per skill level to increase the power and effectiveness of each trait. During battle, every time a player increases a level with a boosted player skill activated, these specific skills will become stronger. Reaching a fully unlocked Player Skill Tree will also grant players access to subclasses of their character's ability.
These subclasses will allow players to build more versatile characters for end-game dungeons. Whether it's dual-wielding the strongest weapons to inflict more damage on enemies, take one the brunt of the attacks, or a mix of both, players can build towards the character that best suits their abilities. Players must also remember that unspecialized Mastery classes come with a level limit of 25.
