Summary

  • The Last of Us Season 2 trailer revealed a release month and showcased Dina's iconic bracelet detail.
  • Season 2 won't fully adapt the game's sequel, will have 7 episodes, and spread the narrative over three seasons.
  • Fans loved the attention to detail in the trailer, especially Dina's bracelet and other iconic game moments.

Fans of The Last of Us were treated to yet another season two trailer recently, which showed off its release month. The live-action series, based on Naughty Dog's highly praised sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, will adapt the game's sequence of events that gamers know all too well that it will be a lot more harrowing than HBO's first season. There were plenty of game references in its release month trailer but one, in particular, showcased an iconic Dina detail that many fans were surprised to see being adapted so well into its second season.

According to the series' co-creator , Craig Mazin, The Last of Us season two won’t be a full adaptation of the game's sequel and will tell its tragic and revengeful narrative over the course of three seasons. Season two will also only have seven episodes, which is in stark contrast to its last season, which consisted of nine episodes. Just like with Bill and Frank's episode, it looks as though HBO will continue this trend into its second season as viewers see Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, in a therapy meeting with Catherine O'Hara's currently undisclosed character, which wasn't touched upon in the games, as well as seemingly showcasing Abby's life-changing event much sooner too.

Last of Us Fans Are Loving Amazing Dina Detail From Season 2 Trailer

Although there were plenty of call-backs to The Last of Us Part 2' s game, which included that Abby scene of her walking down a red-lit, alarm-riddled hospital hallway, fans' focus seemed to be on a short scene from the trailer which showcased Dina and Ellie embraced in a dance. Not only was the wholesome Last of Us detail a special reference to when Ellie and Dina first kissed, but the HBO trailer honed in on what was on Dina's wrist - a leather bracelet with a silver hamsa; a good luck charm to protect the wearer from the evil eye that is common in the Middle East. In the game, Dina wears this bracelet, which can be seen as she and Ellie are dancing together. When Ellie leaves for Seattle to track down Abby, Dina gives Ellie the bracelet, which she wears for the remainder of the game.

It's an incredible plot point from the game that's made even better by seeing that it made its way into the series. Many fans of the show commented that HBO "matched it perfectly", and that they are "Glad they did a good live recreation of her bracelet." Dina's bracelet wasn't the only thing that the trailer detailed brilliantly. Fans also got a first look at a bladed sickle weapon, which presumably belongs to one of the Seraphites, as well as a replication of the moment from The Last of Us Part 2 when Ellie proceeds to unleash a ferocious assault on Nora.

The Last of Us Season 2 will be released on Max in April 2025.
