Riot Games' upcoming League of Legend s fighting game, 2XKO, has confirmed that the popular Arcane character Vi will be playable during the PC Closed Beta starting September 9. Riot Games is gearing up for the beta release of 2XKO, where LoL fans will be able to use their favorite characters in 2v2 fights against other players.
Riot Games continues to expand the universe of its signature and massively popular MOBA. Over the years, the studio has consistently released titles set in the League of Legends world, such as Teamfight Tactics (2019), Legends of Runeterra (2020), and Wild Rift (2020). Riot even created an animated series, Arcane, expanding the game’s lore and introducing new narratives for some of its most popular characters, like Vi, Jinx, Warwick, Jayce, Caitlyn, among several others. Now, the studio is working on 2XKO, an upcoming free-to-play 2v2 tag‑team fighting game where players pick two champions, switch between them mid‑match, and use unique tag‑and‑assist mechanics along with various movement options. Riot has now revealed some exciting news for fans regarding its roster and release date.
What Arcane's Changes to League of Legends Lore Could Mean for 2XKO
With Arcane making changes to League of Legends, 2XKO may feature new character designs from the hit animated show in future updates.
Riot Games has officially announced that Vi is joining the 2XKO launch roster, and players will be able to play as her during the game’s Closed Beta on September 9. The beta will be available globally for PC players, and Riot warns of potential technical issues as “we’ll be deploying our backend systems at a larger scale for the first time.” Alongside the announcement, the studio released a short trailer showcasing Vi’s movements in action. True to her style, the character uses hextech-powered gauntlets to fight her opponent, unleashing different punch combos.
Vi Joins 2XKO Ahead of Closed Beta Launch on September 9
In the reveal trailer, Vi’s skills are showcased against other already confirmed 2XKO characters such as Ekko, Braum, Jinx, and Yasuo. Despite the Closed Beta being available only on PC, Riot noted that the game supports cross-platform progression, so players can start on PC and carry over their saves when 2XKO launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later. Additionally, new players will be able to join when the beta begins and throughout its duration.
Moreover, Riot announced that 2XKO will be present at EVO 2025 from August 1–3, where players can try out a playable demo. Fans can also expect a “Know Before You Go” guide ahead of the event. With the addition of Vi, the game’s roster continues to grow—and coming from Riot, it's likely that even more League of Legends characters will be added to 2XKO in the future.
