Brawl is League of Legends' newest game mode, and easily one of the quickest ways to experience the MOBA. While this 5 vs 5 game mode is only live until June 24th, 2025, players can cram tonnes of games in as they typically only last around 10 minutes and there's no champion select phase. For those who enjoy it, game modes often rotate in League, so it's likely to return in the future. Brawl is also similar to the Arena game mode in Smite, so check that out if you want more of this action.
Every Game Set In The League Of Legends Universe, Ranked
Several games are set in the League of Legends universe, with plenty more to come. Here's how they stack up.
How Does Brawl Work In League Of Legends?
Brawl is fairly simple; each team starts with 250 health, and the aim is to get your opponent's health to 0.
To chip away at the enemy's health:
- Kill enemy champions for 5 damage.
- Push your minions into the enemy portal for 1 damage each.
- Unless the enemy is on low health, killing enemy minions also deals 1 damage.
Before finding a game, players choose a champion, runes, and summoner spells, meaning there is no pick or ban phase. Just ready-up and play. This makes a nice change from ARAM, where champions are random.
Another difference between Brawl and ARAM is that players can recall in Brawl to regain health and spend gold.
Players start at Level 3 with 1400 gold, and there are some monsters along the sides of the map to gain more gold and some buffs. Everyone also benefits from the Bandlewood Aura, granting:
- +100 Summoner Spell Haste.
- Increased Mana Rengeneration.
- Recall is Empowered.
- Gain Experience Passively.
- Gain Gold Passively.
- Nearby Enemy Minion & Monster Deaths Share Gold.
- AoE Damage Dealt to Minions is 75% Effective.
Tactics & Tips For Brawl
To win more games of Brawl in League of Legends, the following tips can help.
- Don't give away silly deaths, as, unlike other League game modes, they count as points. Instead, recall and heal.
- Pay attention to the score near the end. If your team is on 5 or less health, don't die!
- Make use of the Honeyfruit plants to heal.
- Remember to recall and spend your gold.
- Don't give up hope if you're massively behind, as the team will get the Yordle Magic buff to deal more and take less damage.
- Beware of the invincible turrets on either side of the enemy's portal.
- Take down monsters together, as the gold is shared.
- Don't focus too much on monsters, especially later on.
- Don't forget about killing and pushing minions.

The Best Champions For Brawl In League Of Legends
As the main aim of Brawl is to have fun, players shouldn't worry too much about sticking to a perceived meta. However, for those who find winning fun, here are some considerations about what makes the best champions in Brawl.
- Expect lots of teamfights and skirmishes, so champions with AOE are great.
- Killing minions and helping them toward the enemy portal grants points, so consider champions with good wave clear.
- Games don't last long enough for scaling or stacking, so perhaps avoid League's best scaling champions.
- There is no tower pushing, so champions who like to demolish turrets or split push aren't as good.
- The small map means speed isn't too important.
- Any champion who loves to fight will probably be good.
